How’s the DSE on this thing?

I watched a video ya made on YouTube, forgot channel name. You had random demo slides playing in the background from LG etc. I was trying to spot the 4 corners in that video. Cause that is where DSE usually is easily seen on Sony HDR TVs.

You sure you're talking about DSE?

I don't se DSE on our X95K TVs.

DSE, like other uniformity anomalies does vary from panel to panel,. but I expect even if you do get a X95K with DSE it would be minimal.

Nice, & thank you.

I’ve been carefully looking at the 4 corners of that screen in particular. Mainly because the 900H had it in all corners of the screen. You could even see it in YouTube reviews. Never seen DSE at all on any LCD prior to HDR implementations.

That aside, the 65” goes for $3,799 here. Definitely OLED price territory. I’m saving up for a replacement to my LG C1. I’d like to have a nice backup TV when/if the C1 goes bad so I follow current TVs from most higher end brands. Call me paranoid.

First, I wanted to say it’s not true that Sony’s new X95K has anymore than very very very minimal blooming, and even the very minimal blooming can’t be see at all 99% of the time.

All other YouTube reviews, and all Professional reviews, and my own critical observation say the exact opposite. I am a retired TV Broadcast engineer before I started Value Electronics 25 years ago. I created the annual TV Shootout 19 years ago and video engineering is my passion.

We have Sony’s X95K, LG’s C2 and G2, and Samsung’s S95B QD OLED TVs on display in our showroom so everyone can see these beautiful TVs with real content in our showroom.

Stopped by my local Best Buy to see if they had the 2022 Sonys on display yet but still the 2021 models for now. Maybe within the next couple weeks I’ll be able to see this with my own eyes (while fully acknowledging the less than ideal viewing environment of a big box store). We are very far from a large market city so it could take time to trickle down here, they just set up the 2022 Samsungs about a week ago.

Here's a very honest X95K video that is specifically dedicated to evaluating blooming.

When Quantum of all people comes out to play the contrarian, don't take him seriously.

Best not to feed him (with attention, views, etc.) in general.

He used the 65”

First of all he didn’t have backlight at MAX for HDR when you see him scroll through the settings. Who knows if he even has tone mapping setup properly on the PS5. Also the exposure on his camera.. Maybe he made it look 10 times worse than in real life. He did at least use a black test pattern.

Very odd that he would go out of his way to make people think the X95K is bad especially when he himself was “supposedly” looking forward to the backlight master drive return.

Also, thanks Robert for the Spare Change link about Bloom.

Quantum is a clown contrarian. Not only has he been shown to steal other TV reviewers settings and sell them to his subscribers but he's also ban-evading. His previous channel was banned for hate speech and even on his current channel he has a playlist a mile long where all he does is b**ch about HDTVtest. He's also stirred up controversy by false copyright-claiming other youtuber's videos about him even though the videos fall under fair-use. He even called up one of these youtuber's moms and threatened them. He is pure scum of the earth and it bewilders me how he still has a channel today.

I know all about his BS. When it comes to TVs, he does know a little but pretends to know a lot.

Here is what I said above your post,

“Very odd that he would go out of his way to make people think the X95K is bad especially when he himself was “supposedly” looking forward to the backlight master drive return.”

Edit,

Appears he has doubled down on the Bloom. Won’t post here. He uploaded 2 more videos showing off the Bloom on the 65” No ISO tricks.

Sony's new flagship X95K 4K HDR TV with Sony's MiniLED Backlight Master Drive and their 2nd generation XR processor is an excellent TV.

Not sure how or why we have seen two YouTubers not love the X95K as all other professional TV reviewers and YouTube a/v channels love this TV.

I know the X95K very well and encourage all questions and comments.

Just finished watching Keep it Classy’s video. If you want the truth about the X95K, go watch it. If your TVs have 0 issue, clearly there is some QA problems @ Sony with this panel.

Though Classy didn’t think DSE was much of an issue, you can clearly see all 4 corners of the display have it. Not as bad as the 900H, but present.

Sony clearly doesn’t have a grip on Mini-LED yet. When a FALD tv outperforms a Mini with regards to “black bars” that should concern you. I’m seeing Bloom on demos that didn’t have Bloom on the 900H. Blacks in general seem to look like a struggle for the X95K so..

I also doubt input lag would be great on this thing. So gaming is out.

It’s a crime for Sony to price this TV near OLED territory.

The stronger impressions seem to be coming from the 85” exclusively. Perhaps there is discrepancy in performance of the size classes?

There are more dimming zones the larger the size. So 85” looks like an “only” option.

btw,

https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/qn90b-qled

This looks promising. No DV but I know you are a Samsung fan. It’s also cheaper with more dimming zones.
