Default Scariest Thing That Has Happened To YOU

List your scary stories. Something that has happened to you personally. It does not necessarily have to be a ghost story.

getting treated for Schizophrenia the doctor was'nt 100% sure i had it or not so i had to take meds for it for a few months before i could see a shrink those months were pretty scary due to the meds i would sleep from 10am to 1-2pm all i wanted to do was lie in bed i felt numb all the time and was thinking about sucide since all i would do is lie in bed and want to sleep.

but once i got to see a shrink he started to treat me for a anxiety disorder which had similar syptoms (spelling) as Schizophrenia and i was able to stop taking the meds and now im alot better.

Our plane's landing gear wouldn't open. True story. Nov 2001. Flight from Memphis to Dallas.

We spent 2 hours circling dumping fuel, when the pilot got on the horn and said, "well we've done all we can, we're going to go for it"

I'll never forget those words. The pilot landed the plane very oddly and the force inside the cabin was tremendous. Everyone was crying and bent over in the O.S. position. My GF was with me at the time (which became my wife the next year).

We landed and everyone started clapping. The fire trucks were out there, guys were in their fire suits with axes... It was crazy.

Turns out, the gear was open, it was just floppy and didn't 'lock' into position. They braced the gear and we rolled into the gate.

That night, when we ate dinner, it was the best dinner I ever had...

Having to take an operation in 1999 which I refused to take cause there is no way I'm letting them do that stuff to me. It could have gotten much worse according to doctors but so far I'm doing good and I'm proud I never had to take surgery. But the risks were scary

Air Force Basic Military Training. The physical stuff wasn't so bad because they build us up to the standards. The detailing of the dorm to be PERFECT everytime was demanding, but 2nd nature once we got our act together.

The mental, emotional and near constant study was draining. Mostly due to very long days and lack of sleep. Plus I became very sick in the last 3 weeks and recovery was slow due to lack of rest.

It was a scary thing to think you could do your very best, try your hardest and still fail. Don't know how the other military branches do it. They are even tougher.

Tech school in 2000 was scary due to the sheer volume of information which had to be learned. Was the equivilent of TWO full time college students crammed into a 5 month course. Never studied so hard in my entire life. But I graduated with honors.

3 sinus surgeries was a cake walk compared to those events.

I grew up in Pennsylvania outside of Philly. My parents had a 3 story Victorian house built in 1891. I know there’s a lot of debate about ghosts & belief in them, and I am the type to always try and seek a “logical conclusion” to any mystery, but some of the things that happened in that house defy conventional explanation.

There were numerous times when I was home alone when I would hear someone calling my name. Not a faint whisper, but an actual voice.

Another time when I was home alone and in the first floor laundry room, I heard what sounded like furniture being moved around in the room above me. The room was my fathers study, and he never moved any of the furniture. When I went up to investigate, his type writer stand and large easy chair had been moved.

My mother was eclectic in her home décor. She had three small brass engraved pieces hanging on the wall in a line top to bottom, each one suspended by a single nail at the top-center. I had some friends over, and we were all hanging around in the living room when one of them said “look at that!” We all turned to see one of these pieces swinging back & fourth, to the full apex of the swing. It wasn’t until one of us went over and physically stopped it that it stopped swinging.

My oldest sister was in bed one night getting ready to go to sleep. She was upset about something that happened earlier that day, and was crying. She said our mother came into her room, sat at the edge of her bed, and placed her hand on my sister, and listened to her as she told about her problems. The next day, my sister thanked our mother for listening, only to have my mother tell her she never went into her room that night. Neither did anyone else in the family.

I had been relating these stories to friends of mine, and one of them was a bit skeptical, so he decided to try & test the ghost. There was a room in the front of the house we used as a TV room. He went in, and said out loud that he was putting his pack of cigarettes on the end table, to see if they would still be there later. We both left the room, and closed the door behind us. Again, we were the only two people in the house. When we returned about a half hour later, his cigarettes had disappeared. We searched the room, and found them across the room, under the couch, standing up on end.

I was dating a girl no one in my family liked. One night we were in the kitchen talking with my two sisters when we heard a noise. Someone asked ”what was that”, and my girlfriend (who didn’t believe in such things) loudly proclaimed “It must be the ghost!” and proceeded to jump on the floor in an attempt to squash the spirit. As she did, a large plastic cup flew off of the counter, hitting her in the head. She was freaked. I thought that perhaps she had toppled the cup when she jumped on the floor, so I put it back where it had been, and tried jumping in the same spot. I’m a big guy, and she was very petite – I outweighed her by at least 80 pounds. All my jumping produced no results.
She wasn’t too keen on coming over to my house after that.

Having suffered with anxiety for years, I can say it is very disturbing to think you’re loosing your mind. Best advice I ever got was a shrink who told me “No on has ever died from an anxiety attack” and that whenever I felt the onset of an attack, I should not resist the feeling, but rather let it happen.

Over the years, with lots of prayer, I have learned to channel the extra energy the anxiety gives me (it’s likened to the adrenalin you get in the ‘flight’ part of a flight or fight situation) into useable energy to get me through my day. Doing so makes any worry associated with the feeling to go away quickly, and I am able to get past the situation without it snowballing into something bigger. Hope this helps you.

Okay, so it happened like this. I was going home from school one day, and then I saw a nerd in front of me, just standing there, with a smile on his face. I turn away from there and then, there was another one in the way. Then, it started geting scary. Then more and more were starting to follow me. All the nerds that were wegied, swirlied and lockered by me, were going for a little taste of revenge. But then I realised that they didn't get far, because they were just unfit. The next day, I just gave them all hell for what they tried to do to me. Remember this rule. The nerds never win (except for that time on Revenge of the Nerds. Heh, how did they do it?).
