Default How can I ckeck the bulb hours on my SXRD?

THE FOLLOWING THREAD IS FOR ALL OF YOU WHO OWN SXRD's. This procedure may not work on all models, but so far it has as long as they are SXRD's.

PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION when pressing the number 2 while scrolling through the service menu........

O.K. FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS VERY , VERY, CAREFULLY...........They were given to me by a retired calibrator whom has worked on hundreds of SXRD's in his line of work. He is a professional..........Here we go.......(if you have any reservations about doing this ......THEN PLEASE DO NOT)

With the T.V. off........(quickly) PRESS:

Display , 5 , Volume +, Power.

Then wait a second.....then PRESS:

"jump" 3 times.

Then PRESS 2 SEVERAL times until you reach a screen that says..."lamp" or "LMP".......the following numbers will tell you how many hours you have used........... CAUTION.....CAUTION.....CAUTION...........(if you press anything else while scrolling through this set of service menu screens (until you find LAMP or LMP), you will make changes to your INTERNAL SETTINGS.....)

He has informed me in his professional opinion, that SXRD bulbs are typically getting around 6-8,000 hrs. of lamp life. His best advice is to put your TV on POWER SAVING (you can make this up by upping the brightness a "tad". THIS WILL GIVE YOU A MUCH BETTER BLACK LEVEL, and greatly EXTEND the life of your lamp.

Glad I could help my brothers..........

Maybe you all should start posting the amount of hours you have used, and in what time frame. This would be cool to see how efficient our sets are, and show off how much we love the beautiful BLU.......

Default SXRD Lamp Hours reset?

I went through your process, thanks very much. Do the hours reset once a bulb has been replaced automatically or do you have to do manually. I ask because I replaced my bulb 10 months ago and it says I have 7500 hours on the lamp. According to my calculations, there are approximate 7200 in 10 months and I know I have not watched THAT much TV.

Thanks again - Brad

Hi there Mr. Hi Def! I tried this a number of times and for the FIRST time I was able to see the service menu on my KDS-60A3000 and found different service menu options depending on how many times I pressed "jump" but I never did find the information regarding bulb hours used after pressing "2!" Any suggestions?? And thanks in advance for the information because this is the first time I have at least seen the service menu!

while i didn't go into my menu, i can tell you that i had my lamp changed about 3 months ago and i had my set for 3.5yrs before it let go. i had an extended service with geek squad and it included one lamp change. i recently did purchase on my own a new lamp. got it for under 100.00 including shipping. the advantage to getting it from this place is i didn't get just the "lamp" (bulb) i got the entire enclosure kit fully assembled. don't be fooled by some that show you the enclosure and when you receive it, you only have the "bulb" and it takes a lot of work to open up that enclosure and seat that bulb in properly and close it all back up. don't forget, you can't touch the lamp (bulb) with your bare hands because the oil on your skin will "cook" on the lamp and shorten it's life signifigantly!
I may keep the set for another couple of good years and if i decide to sell it with the "brand new spare lamp included" and give them the date of the last lamp change too.
i got great service from these folks and had the new lamp in 3 days.

The XL-5200 replacement lamp is designed to replace the original lamp of your Grand WEGA® A Series TV.

Replacement lamp for Grand Wega® A Series TV. Compatible with several models including the KDS-50A2000, KDS-55A2000 and KDS-60A2000.

i also about a year ago got my optical block assembly changed (the color rainbow effect started) and the new block looked incredible, then, when i had the lamp changed, it looks like a brand new set again!

best of luck to all of us RPTV's I love mine!

You have to press it several times to get to the right menu. But beware! I have read on AVS forum you can screw up your set very easily by diddling in the service menu.

I only pressed #2 as recommended because I DO KNOW that one can screw up their set by "diddling" with the service menu. And with that said, it's not a big deal if I can't find out the current status of my bulb because like an earlier poster, I have already replaced my bulb w/housing once! Not that difficult if one follows the directions but I wouldn't try replacing just the bulb without the housing. And fortunately, I am still under warranty for a number of years and can still get my bulb replaced once for FREE!

Hey Gang,

Does anyone have the procedure for adjusting the "Pin Cushion" or "barrel distortion" on a 60" SXRD?

My distortion is quite noticable at the screen edges.

No worries im a professional "diddler". Work as a tech for many years.

Cheers

Chester.

Default Problem Checking Bulb Hours On KDS-60A3000 Firmaware Issue?

Hello, my dad has a Sony Bravia KDS-60A3000. We tried the instructions for finding out the number of hours the lamp has been in use and it doesn't work for us either. What's interesting in that my dad WAS able to do this about a year ago with the same TV and it all worked fine. He thinks he did a firmware update since then (not sure though) and we are wondering if that is why it is not showing up. There is a LMP that shows up under the TEMP submenu under the BE service menu (we never are getting to the DE-Micro service menu. The old firmware he had was version: EL-BMN-A-L-C-D-T-B-S and the new version is: EN-BMN-A-L-C-D-T-B-T

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

dear mr. hidef,

i have the sxrd ks-60r200a model, this is the middle eastern/european model name i believe equivalent to 300 model in the states.
on my remote i can not find "display" nor "jump" to check the hrs on the lamp.
could you kindly point me in the right direction?
i have replaced lamps 3x already and think this is quite a lot for having the tv for 4 years.

i appreciate your feedback

I have a KDS-60A3000 manufactured in 2007. The way I found the lamp hours is to press display, 5, vol-, power. A diagnostic screen comes up. At the bottom the 3rd set of numbers is lamp hours
