Default Digital Camera Recommendations?

I'm looking for recommendations for a digital camera between $100-150. I want it to be able to shoot video as well as stills and have a microphone for the video. Thanks!

Panasonic TZ5. Compact with Leica 28-280mm lens (10x optical zoom) 720p HD video capability. More like $200 but great little camera.

Olympus Stylus 1030SW. Waterproof (you can dive with it) and takes excellent pictures. I've had it for about 6 months and love it!

Default Canon SD770

I just bought a Canon SD770 10.0 MP P&S digital camera recently. I took my gallery pic's with it. It takes sharp pictures and it's easy to use for the casual photographer. You can find it at amazon.com for around your price range.

There's too many that are good in that range.

I want the Leica D-Lux 4. Not in the price range though.

My sister in law and friend use the TZ5. It is a great, amazingly compact camera.

Check dpreview.com too. They did a bunch of P&S shootouts in different price categories.

Sub $150 tests
Ultra Compact
'Premium' Compact
Enthusiast (see here for TZ5)

Buy the Panasonic LX3. They are identical hardware. The difference is Leica uses their own RAW format and software.

What is essentially the same camera as the Panasonic LX-3 is also available as the Leica D-Lux 4. The differences between them appear to be the Leica red button badge rather than the Lumix name on the top right hand corner of the body. And....

And, oh yes, almost $400 difference in price. At the time of this writing B&H, for example, is selling the LX-3 for $463 and the D-Lux 4 for $849. How is the remarkable price differential justified? I'm not sure.

UPDATE:

According to a source within Leica here are some salient advantages to the D-Lux 4...

– a provided wrist strap rather than a neck strap (wow - a saving of about $7)
– Phase One Capture One 4 raw software instead of Silkypix (a smart move, but not worth that much once other third party appears)
– A two year warranty, vs Panasonic's 1 Year with 90 days labour (Humm. How about I just buy a second camera for the extra $400 if the first one fails? Seems like expensive insurance to me).

The bottom line on this is that while the Leica version might be worth an extra $100, to my mind it simply isn't worth an almost $400 premium.

Good camera! Step-up from my SD770. However, I don't believe they sell this in Canada .

OP, I just wanted to offer my opinion, which is the same as groovyone, here. groovy is quite the photographic enthusiast, and really knows what he's talking about.

I have an older 7.2MP Cyber Shot which shoots THE BEST pictures I've ever seen, but it's been unavailable for years. The subsequent CyberShots don't measure up IMHO.

Thanks.

Which one do you have? I just picked up yet another camera, this time an 8MP full spectrum modified Sony F828. Pretty fun to use and given that it is a non-SLR from 2004 that CAN shoot RAW, it does a pretty decent job with Infrared photography. It can even shoot IR video, but I can't edit the white balance settings in them.

I have the Sony DSCP200. It's just fantastic. The Zeiss lens has quite a bit to do with that, I'm sure. It's actually this camera that got me into photography (bought a Sony A300-K).

Something else, people MARVEL at the response time of this camera. After holding the button halfway down, when you depress it fully, the capture is just as instant as a film camera! It's wonderful!
