I stopped by at NJMTV store. Owner said MUGHAL-E-AZAM BRD shipment arriving next week.

I specifically asked him about MAINE PYAR KIYA BRD shipment as per diwali release date (10/31),

no new release date announced as of today.

horrible, horrible just atrocious. There is nothing to talk about there.

Even the original color shot "technicolor" scenes are a travesty.

I dont see any detail whatsoever.

They just slapped the 2004 DVD 480p DI slapped on this BRD.

PQ is literally out of

Wow! The aspect ratio is completely messed up. As if the cropping wasn't a problem, they've stretched the picture making everyone look fat. The extremely bright news is that there's no watermark.

They probably spent too much time and effort in stretching and cropping that they totally forgot about the watermark.

I am glad I was ready for a huge disappointment. No effort to put out a quality product yet again. BD could have featured the entire movie in the correct aspect ratio and also the expected quality of a blu-ray. Sad thing is that they will judge putting out other classics based on this joke of a BD. Such a shame.

During its revival, Mughal-E-Azam was attempted to be given a restoration for its colorization. The only source available to them was an extremely damaged duplicate print. At the end, a very cheap restoration was given to it, with people who did not have proper expertise. That is evident from the fact that the colorized DVD showcased the film with incomplete clean up. Shakes, disjoints, debris stayed. So if the original restoration job itself was supremely sub-optimal, I don't see how this colorized version could look any better.
We don't know what kind of a source was used to author this BD, whether the negative print of the colored version or the DI. But judging by the screenshots, the BD seems faithful to the quality of restoration originally granted to the film. Some close up shots have decent detail, from what I see.

Hi HDDCS, sorry I didn't get a chance to respond. I don't have this BD yet.

This discussions about the screenshots are bleak, but I've learned to wait and see for myself.

Thats exactly how it looks. its has to be that 2004 color DI master they created. I'd love to know how many GB this BRD is.
