Given this is a Norwegian BD I am not expecting English subtitles especially as the producers are still trying to generate theatrical international sales.

I watched at the UK premiere which was at London Film Festival last month. Thought it was okay, but not a stand out. Think of it as a good choice at the multiplex or for beer and pizza at home. Is very much your standard disaster movie, so no surprise who dies and who survives. The production design looked good on what I guess was a small budget compared to US disaster movies.

There is an English friendly international trailer on YouTube.

With regard to the UK they did not mention a distributor at the London Film Festival, so may explain why a theatrical release in 2016 is still not scheduled. Norwegian films struggle with distribution in the UK as Kon Tiki took almost 2 years to get released, with limited theatrical run and a BD (was surprised by this but great disk, and easily beats US and Australian BDs so best English friendly version). I think the only Norwegian film which got wide UK distribution in recent years was Headhunters, but that was thanks to the popularity of it's writer Jo Nesbo in the UK.

Anyone know where I can purchase this blu-ray that ships to the USA? I have tried a couple of Nowegian websites and they only ship within Norway.
Thanks!

I presume none of the BDs above are English friendly ?
Do any have Danish subtitles ? as would be okay with those as an alternative.

I totally agree with you. It took me 3 attempts to watch San Andreas. The CGI stuff is way out of control and I didn't care anything for the characters.
I fast-forwarded through most of the movie and gave away the blu-ray to my brother!

Bolgen feels more real and I cared more for the characters.

See news article, Magnolia have picked up US rights with theatrical release in March. Should mean an English friendly BD later in the year. However they are unlikely to have the Atmos soundtrack of the Norwegian release.

The US version is being released on June 21, 2016 and it is Region A.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Wave-Blu-ray/152476/

I do not know if it will contain the Dolby Atmos soundtrack.

A heads up to anyone looking for a English friendly version of this film, avoid the UK release from Studio Canal. There is a reason it is so cheap at only £9.99 on release.

Audio:
Norwegian DTS-MAHD 5.1
Norwegian LCPM 2.0
The Norwegian and US releases both have the original Norwegian Dolby Atmos track.

Locked English subtitles.
No extras (other versions have extras).
RB locked.
Card slipcase (US slipcase is lenticular).

So if you are RB and need this to be English friendly may be worth waiting to see what's released in Australia.
