I’m trying to play 2 player mode (joy controller split into 2 I guess you say). How come Player 2 automatically moves on its own during gameplay? The car automatically moves as if the car is moving itself. My daughter was getting frustrated by it. If you don’t even push a button the car still moves like the computer took over that player. Weird.
MK8 Deluxe introduced a steering assist to help keep players on course. It shouldn't be hardly noticed unless the player is having severe problems in the race.

It starts as soon as the race starts though. It doesn't even give enough time to tell if she needs help or not haha.

It's funny on my controller it doesn't "assist." On hers, it starts assisting right away. Can we turn the assist feature off?

Thanks for the reply!!

Edit: Maybe this is it?

Moving by itself is not steering assist, it's auto acceleration. Steering assist is what keeps you from crashing into walls and stuff.

Auto acceleration, steering assist, and tilt steering can all be toggled on or off from the pause menu (hit + or - during a game), or on the character select screen by pressing + or -.

It has to do with the Stormy Daniels book. An excerpt from it compares something to "the Mushroom guy from Mario Kart"

Toad, is the character she meant to say, but I guess "mushroom guy" is close enough

Are those features on the wii-u version or just the switch?

Switch for all three features, Wii U has tilt steering.

And thank god for these features. Yesterday my 3.5 yr old was able to play his first ever game and it was Mario Kart 8 due to these features. I hope moving forward the switch is a big part of his gaming development.

If I'm being honest, Mario Kart 8 deluxe is my favorite game on Switch and it really isn't close in terms of hours spent playing. The game is just freaking great!

Was thinking about picking this up, but no internet right now and am wondering if the game is still worth getting as a single player offline game?

I had a blast going through and earning 3-Star Gold on all the cups before jumping online (well for 150cc anyway; 50cc is way too slow for me). Get's you ready for all the tracks against the competition online.
