Default Witcher or Three Houses?

I can only afford one, I want everyones opinion. Should I buy The Witcher 3 or Fire Emblem: Three Houses? I havent played either game, or any game in either franchise before.

I’d go Fire Emblem.

I love both games and actually like Witcher 3 more, but it looks like a bad port given what a graphical showcase the game is. If you’re never going to own another console or gaming PC to enjoy the superior version (which is also way cheaper on sale regularly than the Switch port), then give the Switch port a go I guess. That said, you seem to mostly play Nintendo/Japanese games so I’d still recommend Fire Emblem.

I mean that's like saying the PSX port of Quake II was a bad port instead of the miracle port it is just like Witcher 3 is on switch. If it can recreate the experience faithfully with downgraded visuals due to hardware limitations only, that's a great port in my book.

Fair enough. I shouldn’t have said bad port.

To me the graphics WERE a huge part of what made Witcher 3 one of my all time favorite games, along with the story. Combat/gameplay are nothing special IMO. Thus I’d never want to play a graphically inferior version.

I definitely recommend it to any Switch gamers who’ll never experience it on another console or PC though, which I did above.

But if you have other platforms and have time to game at home on a big screen, buy it there (for a lower price) and enjoy the masterpiece in its full glory.

Thanks everyone for the votes and your comments. I think I will go with Fire Emblem: Three Houses, after I finish Dragon Quest XI S: Echos of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition.

Some impressions of the performance of the Switch port for anyone else on the fence about The Witcher 3.

If you have a PS4 or XB1 Id say get The Witcher 3 on one of those. If Switch is your only option then as much as I love The Witcher 3 Id say get Three Houses first & pick up The Witcher 3 later.

3.5 games in one with Fire Emblem

I finished all the paths (135 hours) within a month and I'm still thinking about that game every now and then.
