The Ollie's closest to me never really had a good media section. During the Holidays they get a good haul of toys for the kids which is nice.
Their book section is pretty epic. Found a gem for $2.99:
Let Me Off at the Top!: My Classy Life and Other Musings by Ron Burgundy.
The best book and $3 purchase I have ever made!

I forgot to post this in here. About two weeks or so ago, I was in a different Ollie's. All of there DVD's were 75% off. There were a lot of crappy titles.. Nothing that said buy me.. I was going to buy a Roseanne Barr comedy special; however, I think the DVD was loose in the case and/or I didn't feel like I'd ever find the time to watch it. Seems like they are all phasing out all of there media.. Has anybody else seen new media at their stores?

I was in two days ago, and saw no BD or DVD anywhere. I did find some cool graphic novels though!

Seriously, books and graphic novels are a great deal, but it's looking like movies and even books-on-CD are out.

EDIT: A HUGE amount of Garth Brooks boxed sets though.

Those damn Garth Brooks boxed sets are just the gift that keeps on giving..

I'll try to check the store near me to see if they have anything new (or if they are also doing the 75% off sale). They had 20+ copies of some titles on DVD there, so I'd bet they still have some stuff. I recall quite a few copies of Reluctant Fundamentalist, A Bag of Hammers, Canyons, Fightville, and some other stuff from IFC and MPI. At 75% off, I may give some of them a try since I think they were only around $2 full price.

I stopped into Ollie's today for a few things..

Ended up walking away with these:

All 75% Off.

It ended up costing me .50 for Roseann Comedy Special, 1 for Power Rangers, and 1.50 for House of Payne.

I checked my store today to see if they had the 75% off sale and they did so I grabbed a few titles since they were basically only 50 cents each (all DVD). They did have some new stuff since the last time I had been there a couple of months back, but not a lot and nothing overly interesting. For example, I saw World War II: When Lions Roared which I know they didn't have before.

Here's what I grabbed (all DVD):
  • Almost Human
  • Replikator: Cloned to Kill
  • For Richer, For Poorer
  • Jimmy P.: Psychotherapy of a Plains Indian
  • The Reluctant Fundamentalist
  • Double Feature: Hotel for Dogs & Best in Show (this was actually $1)

They have lots of copies of all of the following movies (all DVD) at this particular store and some other random things (like some various country music concerts, various tv series like hillstreet blues, melrose place, etc.);
  • A Bag of Hammers
  • The Reluctant Fundamentalist (although far fewer of these)
  • Mike Birbiglia: Sleepwalk With Me
  • Fightville (Documentary)
  • Made for Each Other
  • Mansome
  • Replikator: Cloned to Kill
  • Americano
  • Bill Maher: New Rules
  • Knife Fight
  • Almost Human
  • World War II: Commando Collection
  • Chalet Girl
  • Carver's Gate

Haven't seen DVDs at mine the last couple times I've been there. A crap ton of medicine and shampoo, though. Stock up if you need it, it's just packaging changes.

I went back today and grabbed some copies of titles for other posters; one thing for a friend; and grabbed a couple of other things after I read up some more on them.

The find of the day for me was:

Knight Rider: The Complete Series.

This was marked at $25.99, so at 75% off would have been a good deal at $6.50

However, the price sticker was messed up and she couldn't scan it, so she did a look up and could only find one Knight Rider (Best Of) disc that rang up for $1.99. So that entire series only ended up being $0.50

I grabbed these (all DVD) to keep:
  • Mike Birbiglia: Sleepwalk With Me
  • Knife Fight (Rob Lowe)
  • Americano
  • The Two Escobars (ESPN Films documentary)
  • Carver's Gate
  • The Best of the Dean Martin Variety Show (2 disc set)

All were $0.50 except the Dean Martin collection which was $0.75

For Twin Peaks fans who donít wish to have the latest books, Ollies has both The Secrew History it and Final Dossier on audiobook for 4&6$. Iíve never had audio books aside for a George Carlin piece, this seems like a nice price compared to the MSRP on them.

The ones you listed above seem like the ones that they had tons of at mine as well. It can be a bit difficult at times to move and rearrange the movies that they have on those carts.. Especially with the way that they display and store them.

Yeah, it was an absolute mess. Since I wasn't in a hurry, I reorganized everything which was about the only way I could actually find what they had. I was somewhat surprised because when I've been in there in the past, it's usually been pretty organized with all the titles grouped together.

The graphic novels section was also a total mess, so I didn't bother looking through it at all this time.

Dropped by to grab something for another poster and picked up two other movies that I had passed on; but for 50 cents, I figured I'd grab them:

- The Brothers O'Toole
- A Case of You

I also went into Ollie's today. I only picked up a few graphic novels, but I did see these carts:

They were right inside the cart area, between the front door and the door to get into the actual store. I looked around for a minute (reminded of a Walmart bin), but there was nothing for me (or I already owned it!). Would've been nice to find something for $0.25!

If Ollie's is this desperate, it must REALLY be the end of physical media.

It's Ollie's.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't care about someone rolling that cart directly to their car from the entrance.

Went a bit overboard with the "Star Wars" graphic novel sale at my local store yesterday...

I'd been waiting for this to hit my area since Cereal at Midnight talked about it last month, and was so glad to see it (especially the HUGE "UK Collection" book!).
