Default Schultzy's Good Beer Thread

The thread is for reviews and recommendations of good beers only. Bud Light, Corona, Coors Light, Natty Ice, and the like do not qualify as good beer. As some in this forum already know, I am a big fan of IPA's (especially ones from California), but love all styles of good beer. Cheers to all!!!

In preparation for Game 1 of The Stanley Cup Finals (Go Wings!), I just took down a bomber of Hop Juice Double IPA (aka Left Coast Hop Juice) (9.4% ABV). It is a great double IPA that is very similar to Stone's Ruination double IPA. Highly Recommended!!!

Canadian beer.

American beer is like making love in a canoe.

It's f**king close to water.

Come on now, we all know taste is subjective. I think Bud is a good beer when all I want is to slake my thirst and catch a buzz. In that respect there's nothing wrong with some of the better Mexican beers this time of year. I don't care for a lot of the boutique beers out there, especially the heavier ales and porters. If it's 95 out and you're sweating your ass off a Modelo Special or Tecate can be downright delicious.

When it comes to "tasting" beer I'll take Guinness off the tap sometimes, but for the most part I prefer a skunky pilsner or a mellow lager. If I'm out and about Beck's covers it, as does Heineken. If I'm at a place with a little more variety I'll look for Bitburger or St. Peter's Golden Ale.

My taste is a bit pedestrian, but I drink beer for the alcohol. If I'm sipping for flavor I prefer Scotch.

Good thread Schultzy

I've bought a few packs of this over the last couple of months:

It's nice little beer - big flavor, medium bodied and quite fizzy.

Sorry to say that I'm not a drinker-but my neighbor LOVES Bell's Oberon. Its a seasonal beer, and he gets bummed every fall when he can't get it anymore.

I really want to try one of these.

Sam Adams Utopias

anyways, enough dreaming. I'm a fan of Redhook Long Hammer IPA. It's local too.

I salivate every spring when this comes out:

(Sam Adams Summer Ale)

I don't put no fruit in it - it is a nice refreshing summertime beer

(Yuengling Traditional Lager)

Its the beer of choice where I grew up - put it on the level of Bud, Miller and Coors and don't try to compare it to specialty brews...just accept it as a good tasting, good priced, mass produced beer.

This is why I started this thread me friend! I thought I had tried all of the Lagunitas brews, until you posted this one! I'm on the lookout for this now.

I need to go make a trip to San Diego one weekend and check out all the breweries down there. Most of the premium brews are from SD.

Just finished my second double IPA bomber after celebrating the Wings Game 1 win!

Not as good as the Hop Juice double IPA in the 1st post, but still kicking my ass with 10% ABV!!!

If you ever do, make sure you check out Stone Brewery in North San Diego.

Ok Logan, drink the above beer, or any good brewed american beer and tell me that. I do love the beers from Unibroue though, eventhough they are a bit to Belgium-ish for my taste.
