This is an older blog entry(April '10) but it says the release date is October 4th 2010. According to it it will be sold individually or as a 16lp set. They will be on 180g. Looks to be stereo only. Nothing about if they're mastered from the analog master tapes. They had better be or buying the vinyl would be pointless. It would be nice to finally replace my awful vinyl copy of Sgt Peppers.
Excellent find Hatter! I can only assume that we're talking an all analog remaster for the vinyl release. The Apple CEO's statement that they wanted to do it right is very encouraging. I've been waiting for this for around a hundred million years, so a date of late 2010 is something I can live with.

They spent all the time remastering a 24/192 source for archival purposes. I honestly can't see them going BACK to the analog tapes now. The vinyl should come from the 24/192 masters and I have no doubt it will sound impeccable. If 24/192 is the lowest digital realm the remastered catalogue reaches on its way to the cutter would anyone really balk? Anything under that, sure I can understand. 24/48? I'd not consider it. But 24/192 master? Sure, I'll pony up for vinyl cut from such a high quality master.

I thought I read somewhere (damn, I wish I could remember) they were in fact going back to the analog masters, but don't quote me. In any event, a release based on the 24/192 masters would most certainly be welcomed.

I won't quote you...but that would definitely be awesome if they did...just seems like a lot of extra work. But, I'm sure they want to do it right and have the definitive pressings, so if they feel they'll get a better product in an all analog chain like Neil Young does, sign me up.

October 4th is fast approaching. Anything new on this release or has it been pushed back again. I've been googling but cannot find anything on this.

A post showed up on Hoffman today:

Quote:
new pending information from EMI (not an official announcement - so subject to change):

THE BEATLES - VINYL

ABBEY ROAD
BEATLE'S FOR SALE
BEATLES, THE

HARD DAY'S NIGHT, A

RED 1962-1966
REVOLVER
RUBBER SOUL
SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND
STEREO VINYL BOX

Not official. But from this post it would appear that again the only way to get mono vinyl will be the box set, which I'm perfectly okay with. I'd pick up the mono vinyl set along with Let It Be and Abbey Road on stereo individual sets. Or maybe I'd have to just buy both box sets, lol, we'll see come October.

In any event I will buy this for sure....been waiting for 2 years.....and I don't care how much it costs.

Just FYI, Next year is more likely than not to see BD-Audio versions

Skip the snap crackle pop for the clean sound

Would love to see BD-A releases of this Jeff, but I can't and won't skip the snap, crackle and pop for it's superior vinyl releases.

It is truly remarkable the sound a proper analog rig can bring...and I will definitely be picking up Beatles vinyl and will no doubt add the Blu-ray's too.

Is there confirmation that these will be remastered from the ORIGINAL ANOLOGUE TAPES?

Some members from other forums don't think they will be. They don't actually give a reason as to why, but make the statement regardless. I find this confusing as the CD remasters were done from the orginal source. Why would the vinyl remasters be handled differently?

No kidding!

This is great news. I better start saving now! I will definitely have to add at least the mono box set to my collection!

I can't wait for this...may take several issues of reviews!

The Beatles are The Beatles.....no other band, including my beloved Pink Floyd, have stirred up my anticipation for these reissues on vinyl.

I'm not getting my hopes up.

...Still if they do a remaster of the original tapes and it comes out like the Band On The Run remaster, then we just might be on to something here.

The master tapes were archived at 24/192, then all mastering/etc. was done at 24/44.1 for the CD masters (dithered to 16-bit for CD-DA).

I don't think after four years of archiving that they'll be going back to the original tapes again...but what I do hope is that they'll go back to the 24/192 archives and not sample down to 44.1 for all the mastering for the vinyl and Blu-ray releases, which would be a-ok in my book. Just my $0.02

Well the cd remasters weren't that expensive so hopefully that means around $20 per individual vinyl album.
