My favorite is a Long Island Iced Tea and that's a little bit of everything so I didn't know what to pick above.

You'll probably get a lot of complaints that beer isn't an option on the poll.

There's already a beer thread, which is why this one specifically says "Liquor Thread" .

Anyway, the point is more on discussion and less on the poll...I just chose the big categories to throw it up there...the "other" option is there for anything else.

Thumbs up This is a toughie

Most of the time I'll relax(or not) with some Patron or Tre's Generationes...tequila, Sometimes I'll have some of the other brands usually with a Dos Equis(Amber beer) chaser. Depending on where I am If they don't carry tequila I'll have a 516 ( that's the area code for Long Island) their Iced Teas are excellent (If mixed right). I've been known to have a Cognac on a cold winters night with that certain someone. I guess what I'm saying is I'm not all that picky ( but it needs to be quality). I can enjoy Johnny Walker (blue ofcourse),certain Vodkas (Stoli,Ciroc come to mind). Hmmmmmmmmm
I thinks me might be a bit of a lush

A shot or 2 of Patron straight up. I don't drink anymore, but when I do it's just a beer.

I prefer savory cocktails rather than sweet ones and vodka martinis are my favorite, so I chose vodka. It's also the most versatile liquor; you can mix it with so many different things.

Straight up (sipping or shots) I prefer a good tequila on the rocks, with a slice of lime (has to be 100% agave).

Don't like Scotch Whiskey. Brewers stopped using peat to kiln their malt as soon as they could. Peat is an off-flavor. Now, a nice single barrel Bourbon whiskey is luscious. Just for your own interest, Scotch, Canadian and Irish whiskeys are aged in used American Bourbon barrels, while Bourbon is by rule aged in new American oak barrels. For a nice Bourbon to sip, try Pappy van Winkle's 20 year old (not the 23 year old). If you want uncut (barrel proof) wiskey, try George Stagg. Once you experience the burn, you can never go back. Noah's Mill is also quite nice to sip, and economically priced at about $40. I like it for Manhattans, and I like Fee Brothers bourbon barrel bitters for my Manhattans.

I use Plymouth Gin for Martinis and other gin cocktails. I like a classic Martini with about 4:1 Gin to Vermouth, and I like a dash of orange bitters and use home-cured olives (I also make my own Maraschino-style cherries). If you have never tried a Corpse Reviver No. 2, it's probably one of the perfect cocktails (Gin, Lillet Blanc, Cointreau, Lemon juice, a little absinthe).

I don't know why people drink vodka. It has no flavor.

Rum deserves to explored as a spirit. There are so many different kinds, and they are complex beyond belief. Aged rums are excellent for sipping. Try Gosling's. Any clear rum can make a good daquiri. I prefer cane juice rums rather than molasses rums for sipping and cocktails, but I appreciate the latter. Try Ron Zacapa Solera 23. I like half clear rum and half cane juice rum (rhum agricole) in a Mai Tai, which is also an excellent cocktail.

Those of you who drink Long Islands and Sours, I hope you drink real ones (no mixes). Mixes are swill.

My buddy Pete loves scotch, so on his wedding day, we all (wedding party) enjoyed a glass or 2 of Johnny Walker Black label I think, the bottles worth like $150 bucks.

Anyways, not being a scotch drinker, I found it quite funny that whilst they were all savouring every sip making references like "it's soooo smooth" and "this tastes like candy", I sat in the corner learning what it feels like to have your throat hollowed out with a stick wrapped in barbed wire!

Anywho, Vodka for me. Almost everything else makes me nautious after 2 drinks. I sure to miss my Crown Royal.

Jägermeister is my preference when it comes to liquor, I'm much more of a beer kind of guy though.
