Exclamation How to Select Studio/Distributor When Contributing to the Database

Hello everyone,

The Blu-ray.com team would like to inform all members and contributors how to select the studio/distributor when adding a new title/profile or updating an existing one.

Given that the film industry constantly evolves -- many labels merge, new sublabels are created, old studios are renamed, etc -- we would like to follow the same format ISBN logging does. There are different reasons why, but some of the most important ones are consistency and the ability to retain legacy info.

What this means is that the studio/distributor that is entered in the database must be the party releasing the product (Blu-ray/DVD) as of the day/date it enters the market. For example, if Echo Bridge is releasing a Miramax produced film on February 1, the film/release profile should have Echo Bridge as the studio/distributor.

Sublabels/offshoots shouldn't be broken either. For example, From Beyond, which is part of Scream Factory's horror series, should appear under Shout Factory.

The decision to have in the profile the studio/distributor releasing the title as of the day it enters the market was made so that our members as well as our team (reviewers/contributors) can easily identify it. This should also help us avoid the incorrect information large retailers, such as Amazon, often list before and after release date.

Thank you for contributing to the database and making Blu-ray.com the best and most complete site for everything Blu-ray on the Internet

Pro-B

Thanks Pro-B and the rest of the Blu-ray.com team working behind the scenes for the clarification!

Can we sticky this somehow so it remains easily seen?

It's not a US version but rather an import.

I noticed that some of the Sony blu-rays have been changed to 'Sony Pictures Classics' for the studio. This doesn't make sense, because SPC is just a subsidiary of Sony Pictures, much like Screen Gems or TriStar.

Why are so many of the Touchstone / Hollywood Picture titles listed with Disney / Buena Vista?

Could Xenix Film also be added?

Also, could Argentina be added to the dropdown list for origin countries? Couldn't put The Aura right, great movie.

And plz could somebody correct my typo in the commentary note, its

Could "A Contracorriente" be added to the distributors list?
It's a Spanish local distribution company (theatrical and DVD/BR)

Could you guys add The Madonna Store to studios and store exclusives pulldowns?

http://www.madonna-store.com/index.p...te=common/home

ACTUALLY...add The Madonna Store to store exclusives but add Martigen to studios.

Thanks!
Is this where these requests belong? It's been so long since I have used the forums for these purposes...
