I'll agree, but only because I think the brightness of the Marvel Blu-ray's has been an issue since Phase 2, not because I think they're particularly aesthetically interesting or ambitious or even good films. Despite having the disc, I still have to use a 22 GB version of the Blu-ray a fan put online that has the brightness turned up and the contrast adjusted accordingly, whenever I want to watch the movie on a (fairly bright) projector. The disc itself forces me to squint on 120 inch screen to make out any detail. I'd probably need to hunt down similar versions of Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 if I ever felt like seeing them at my folks home theater. Winter Soldier and Ultron are just barely passable.

LotR extended edition trilogy ( liked soo much more than hobbit). Movies succeed when the stakes are high for faliure and success. Lotr had much more on the line for the world. If they lose world falls- Hobitt no big stakes. In fact orcs win with no backlash in 3rd film.

English Patient, Avatar, Pulp Fiction, Terminator series ( dramas that deserve the resolution).

Avatar was shot in 2k 100% digitally. So it would be an "4K upscale", not a true 4k.

The thing is, the only thing I could see released from Star Wars in 4K is The Force Awakens. When Fox shot the original movies in the late 70s and early 80s, there was no 4K. Still, would be nice to see a 4K Blu-Ray of the originals on upconvert

Since first movie (4) has been found on 35mm for example I don't see why not they could make 4K from that. But 1-3 is pretty much digital hard locked I would think.

This says it all in a nutshell. The old classics in Todd-AO/Super Panavision 70/Ultra Panavision 70 et al

Plus all new 4K Digital Interface/Mastered movies

These films will all benefit immensely as 4K UHD Blu-ray releases.

so could Oklahoma! in 4K simulate the 30fps better than the bluray 1080i / 30 fps edition?

wants:
- Playtime
- Fantasia
- Phantom of the Opera (2004)
- Pink Floyd - The Wall
- West Side Story

They could do an even frame conversion from the Todd AO version's 30 fps to 60 fps with some digital manipulation. They don't have a 30 fps mode for consumer UHD media outside of camera files.
