Default What Is Your Favorite Fast Food?

I'm talking about a particular item. Not which restaurant, not which meal but single piece of food. For me it's like picking a favorite song and I just can't. Or it's like picking my favorite candy which is whatever I happen to be eating at the time.
But if I had to pick, damn I don't know. I mean maybe an original skin drumstick from KFC is sooo good but I can't say for sure.

Ok, so what's your fave fast food item and what is your fave fast food dessert?

Fast food: burgers. Why not? At their best, a burger can be massive, juicy, savory, and satisfying. A bad burger, I can still eat and enjoy. If I have to pick a specific burger place, I think Five Guys is my current top preference, although JCWs is close runner-up (especially since they make great shakes too), and a Big Mac is a good one to fall back on anywhere in the world.

Dessert: never really thought about it, but I can eat ice cream like a fiend, so I always loved something like a McFlurry. From what I've had, shakes from JCW's seem to be the best I can think of. Chances are I've had other great shakes at individual restaurants and pubs all over the place. A Wendy's Frosty would be my ultimate dessert lifeline.

I don't eat out too much, but I'd have to choose a fully loaded chili cheese coney from Sonic. Dessert? Probably a DQ blizzard, which one? All of them, they're all good!

Al, have you ever had saltines, which you can get at Wendys, in the frosty? My dad used to do it and they are freaking delicious. I'm serious, a saltine in a frosty is better than a saltine in clam chowder I think. I know fries tend to be popular dippers but try a saltine if you haven't.

And I was going to say that I want to know which particular fast food place you mean too. You started out with just burger but then you did say that Five Guys is your fave. While a burger probably wouldn't be my favorite item, I think Five Guys is the best that I've had. I was more impressed with the Fuddruckers burger that I had the other day but I think I still gotta go with Five Guys as well.

It feels like I should say the same as you Mike. I'm hesitant to just say Blizzard because I want to make sure the answer I give is truthful and it's just too hard. But really what else could compare with a DQ Blizzard?

A saltine cracker? Sure, I'll try it out some day. Can't be any worse than the time I put a slushie on a pizza and ate it (the combination of hot and cold, sugary and savory is actually somewhat appealing to me).

Five Guys is alright, but the best burgers I've ever had have been from pubs. Same goes for fries even. I just haven't found a chain restaurant that made a tasty burger. Of course, YMMV!

Oh, and Fuddruckers is extremely overrated.

I don't know if you'll get to Wendys to try it any time soon, but if you do, let me know how you like it. The slushie on the pizza??

Well pubs aren't fast food though are they I never heard any buzz about Fudds to say if they're overrated or not but I know my first time, I was quite surprised at the cost for what my mom and I ate. I would like to try out their $10 1-pound burger.

Haven't even heard of Fuddruckers.

I just remembered my summer trip last year. One of my favorite burgers has to be from the restaurant at Mesa Verde National Park--angus beef served on focaccia bread with spinach. It was elegant and it had great texture.

Real pubs are a special kind of fast food. I still have fond memories of English pubs--draft beer, meat pies, fish and chips, fried calamari, sticky toffee pudding...

Wait, I got to change my answer--favorite dessert must be sticky toffee pudding. It's to die for.

Shit that's right, you have done a lot of traveling. Let me show you what I had at my first real pub in Ireland. My first meal in Dublin was at an Eddie Rockets and I chose it because I felt more comfortable going to it since it was like an American 50's diner. The reason I went there is simply because I can be so insecure and introverted, that I was too afraid to go to a real pub and ask them how it works, meaning do they seat me or do I seat myself? Yes, I'm that weird that I would feel weird asking that lol
I'm sure you know bangers and mash but if not you'll see it and then tell me if what I had is what you mean by sticky toffee pudding. The dessert I had is called sticky toffee pavlova so I'm not sure if it's the same thing.

And if you think the bangers and mash pic is embarrassing, you should see the one I took using the flash

Sweet! I love bangers and mash. Even that drab picture looks yummy to me.

Yeah, pavlova must be something different (is that a meringue or something?). Looks nice though. But the stuff I remember fondly is more like a very moist cake with a sticky caramel-esque sauce. And it goes great with ice cream. Something like this:

Wow, that does look quite good. I had never heard of pavlova before and I'm not quite sure how to describe it. I guess it was kind of like a wafer crust. It was very good. That was at The Coachhouse Pub in Roundwood, Ireland probably about 30 to 45 minutes from Dublin. I was not expecting the bangers and mash to be a pork link. I read the menu and expected a pork chop like my mom used to cook. The reason I said it was embarrassing is because it looks like a...well you know And the pic with the flash makes it even look funnier!

So I've actually thought about this topic before and I'm just going to say my fave fast food item is a drumstick with original crust/skin from KFC.

And I know you don't have the free time that I do but those 9,000 pics aren't going to post themselves

Funny but sad thing about it is, per a TV show I saw about food, there is a threshold to determine what's a "banger" and what's a proper sausage. If I remember right, a sausage has to have 32% or more real meat. Bangers have less--typically connective tissue, water, fat, and other nasty things. That's why bangers can be sold the way they are without having stricter health regulation--they're technically not sausages.

So yeah, like everything else in life they're bad for you but sure are tasty.

There's something called Carl's Jr. all over the place (if I read this right, Hardee's is the parent company). Only ate there once--it's good.

Carl's Jr is okay, Jack in the Box is okay, Five Guys is the best burger joint I've eaten at so far.

Sure they are :-P

As for the $10 pound burger, if that includes fries that's not a bad deal, assuming it's a true 1-lb of meat - a burger at a sit-down restaurant like TGIFridays or Ruby Tuesdays can run at about $10, kind of ridiculous since from what I saw they're only like 1/4 pound patties. Even a Five Guys' burger will run you $6 or so...

The $10 is just for the burger and I'm going to assume they really mean one pound of meat but I'm not sure. It's funny because the first few times I went to Five Guys, it always seemed like they were getting cheaper. It's odd because I think of a $12 combo at Five Guys as an ok deal but it's like a value meal at McDonalds for $8, what a freaking ripoff! lol

I did like those angus burgers that McD had for awhile. Normally I just get the number 2 which is the 2-cheeseburger meal. I like Whoppers and I like the bacon cheeseburger at Jack in the Box and I like the western bacon cheeseburger at Carl's Jr. It's been awhile since I've had CJ but I think that's the name of the burger. It comes with onion rings on top. And speaking of onion rings, Dairy Queen has really good ones.
