This thread should be combined with the one I created over a year ago:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=292862

Glad to see the concept is an expanded, better version than the original. Sort of hated what they did with the Dark Moon. A hotel should make the game longer and more challenging too. Very cool Still hope they look into a Ghost Town for the 4th iteration.

I don’t think so for two reasons.

1) It is a dead thread (hasn’t been posted in since Oct. 2007)
2) It talked about unconfirmed rumors, whereas this one is about a confirmed game.

Best news of the whole direct for me.

HOWEVER! Judging from the trailer it basically looks like an upres'd iteration of Dark Moon. I really hope I'm misjudging the trailer and it doesn't turn out to be the case. I'm getting irritated with Nintendo and their seemingly lack of ambition with their IP's. Zelda, Mario Odyssey, and Xenoblade 2 are the only exclusives so far that have any kind of grand sense of scale and scope. I was hoping Nintendo would take Luigi's Mansion to another level on Switch, but sadly it looks like they are once again playing it safe just like they did with Kirby Star Allies, Mario Tennis Aces, and Yoshi.

It was a 30 second teaser, that is a huge assumption to make that they are 'playing it safe'. We know virtually nothing about the game.

Yeah but even from the trailer you can see that you still play from the same fixed camera angle and you're still moving around these teeny tiny rooms in a fairly linear path. I was hoping Nintendo would give this game a grander sense of scale. I wanted them to put Luigi in a HUGE mansion or castle to explore openly and freely. I wanted them to evolve this series the way they did Zelda.

The building shown at the end looks very large to me, could easily be much more variety. My guess is this is at least a year away still so they couldn’t show much. Being an indoor game there is a limit to how much ‘grand scale’ can be done.

I love Luigi's Mansion, but I didn't really care too much for Dark Moon. I'm really excited they're making a 3rd installment and that it takes place in a hotel! I hope it comes in a bundle with a Luigi's Mansion themed Switch!

Nintendo missed a opportunity to remaster the first game for the Switch.

Surprised they didn't give us a date for this one since it is playable on the show floor.

Pokémon Sun and Shield. I know it comes out in November but I have to think it will still be the big holiday game for Switch.

Yeah, it's Pokemon for sure. Luigi's Mansion doesn't have a large enough audience to be a big holiday game IMO.
