USA Midsommar 4K UHD (2019)

Although listed as a Digital pre-order, it's still a good indication a physical 4K is likely to happen.

I hope so. I haven't seen the movie yet but, I loved Hereditary, and this one looks just as good.

I want it to happen but doubt it will.

Only $10.5-million at the box office, and likely won’t have any legs.

Someone with (alleged) insider info in the Souvenir thread said that A24 films need to break $1 mil to get a pressed disc.

I would say a UHD is a safe bet.

If Hereditary sold well then I imagine they’ll take their chances with a UHD release.

I like to think so too. This is a followup so in tradition of the first movie already in 4K it would compliment it well that it's followup would also receive the same treatment. You can't have one in 4K and not the other.

Im sure it will get one. It will make about the same amount of money as The Witch and Ex Machina which both got a 4K (eventually)

While I'm very interested in this movie, I'm too is waiting for it to hit on home video. I can see this movie looking brilliant in Dolby Vision HDR.

A digital pre-order is NOT an indication a UHD is coming. A24 and Lionsgate have ditched pressed blu-Ray releases for more than a few of their films now. While I donít think the same thing will happen to Midsommar, we will be very lucky if it gets a UHD.

Please don't come to the thread to spread misinformation again like you did in the High Life Blu-ray thread insinuating it was going to be a BD-R when it was never going to be. Your post started to create confusion amongst members on the site.

On that note, if High Life a really poorly received A24 title at the box office managed to pull a pressed Blu-ray release. This can well get a BD and 4K release without issues.

Anyway, I do hope a UHD happensóas this is one of the most beautifully shot and set designed films of 2019.

Saw this today. I liked it about the same as Heriditary, but they are such different films. This is absolutely stunning visually though and was captured at native 8K. Unfortunately it looks like it got a final 2K DI, but the large format photography will probably still look stunning on 4K Blu with a HDR grade.

Only issue for me is if I'd watch it again. I don't see this as a film I will want to revisit much, especially at its run time. I feel like I got all I needed to out of it the first time.

What I posted is not inaccurate. Climax, UtSL and The Souvenir all got BD-Rs. I didn’t say that all of the A24 films did. Just many of them.

All I said was that a UHD digital pre-order does not mean a physical release is coming. Which is true. Plenty of titles have gotten 4K digital releases but no UHD disc.

Yes. The Die Hard movies are a good example of that.

I'm not sure this movie can make $40 million or $36 million respectively. It's fallen flat on its face it seems like and may not recover.

Hope it happens because I loved the movie and would buy this day 1. And I rarely buy movies anymore.
