USA The Lighthouse (2019) - 4K UHD

Hoping for a 4K UHD release.

Would make the 3rd official B&W film (not counting Logan Noir) behind It's a Wonderful Life to get a 4K release.

Uhhhh...yes.

It may not get a 4K release after all. So hence the “wishlist thread”

Do you not consider Schindler's List a B&W film?

It's incredibly gorgeous and it uses its shadows and blacks on such a high level most of the film could be hung on gallery walls. Need 4k.

It was difficult to see shadow detail at my dim 2K screening so I'm hoping for some HDR assistance on the home release.

I'll be so butthurt if this doesn't get a UHD release.

It's bad enough that 'Midsommar' didn't get one State side.

So far it's made $3M domestically only playing in 586 theaters which is pretty good. It can hopefully (fingers crossed) still get a 4K release if it expands to more theaters.

I thoroughly enjoyed the film. I just wish it was shot in a different aspect ratio. The director is so good at building and shooting the world of his movies that I wanted to see more than the limited display that it was shot in.

Going to buy the regular Blu-Ray release because I wanna support the film anyway I can, but would double dip in a heart beat for a 4K release.

I bought the regular Blu-ray and watched it yesterday. The movie looked and sounded amazing as is, so I'd suggest checking it out.

It's a crime we don't have this on 4K.

It meant to be a period piece, so shooting it in 1.85:1 would be dishonest.

Because no period films are in that ratio? It's of course a stylistic choice by the director, but it absolutely could have been a film made in widescreen, and I doubt anyone would be labeling it as "dishonest"

After watching the Blu-Ray, this ended up being my favorite film of 2019.

I'm really pissed at Lionsgate for not doing a UHD for this.

Given that its the only A24 film to get the recognition at the Oscars this year. Let's hope that's a motivation for the home video distributor to finally release a UHD.
