Default The Expanse (Amazon Original Series)

This show is fantastic and to tie in with the new fourth season that released yesterday, the 4K HDR versions of the first three seasons were also put up for streaming.

I binged the new season (so good!) then started a rewatch and was surprised to discover that the previous seasons were also at least shot and mastered in 4K! Didn’t know that before but looking up tech specs it appears they used the Red Epic at I assume 5K.

It’s Amazon so I highly doubt they’ll ever release UHD Blu-rays but it doesn’t hurt to at least wishlist it.

Of course they will -- I *just* bought the first 3 seasons on BD!

I just started watching S3 last night to catch up before S4 (it's been awhile) and while it looked very nice (much nicer than I remember it streaming, but I have not A/B'ed it), I did for the first time notice the occasional FX artifacts. The scenes that were 100% CGI were fine — it was a composite scene or two that looked iffy.

I'm NOT complaining, but that's the first thing I thought of when I saw this 4K wish list thread. Are there 2K effects that might look fakey on 4K?

Chris

Assuming they keep the Universal partnership around for home video, it'd surprise me if they ever had a 4K, since it seems only WB does that, and Netflix with Stranger Things.

I would be grateful for a home video release in any disc format.

Even DVD, as was the case for Legion. It's better than nothing!

Would be a day one purchase, I could live with this and breaking bad being the only UHD complete series. (I wouldn't turn the sopranos away either)

Wonder if they'll upgrade the Vudu versions to UHD too, or if they'll keep it exclusive to Prime Streaming. It annoys me that Star Trek discovery is only in SDR on Vudu despite streaming in HDR on the subscription services.

Wonder if season four will ever be available to "purchase."
