Default Which 2020 films will get UHD releases.

Let me explain first: This is not a wish list thread.

Of the all the films currently slated for release in 2020, which do you think are (almost) guaranteed to get released on 4K Blu ray? This is assuming they don't completely bomb.

Films releasing in 2020 based on American release dates: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._films_of_2020

Here's my list:

Underwater
The Informer
The Turning
Gretel & Hansel
Birds of Prey
Onward
Bloodshot
A Quiet Place: Part II
Mulan (live action)
The New Mutants
No Time to Die
Antebellum
Black Widow
Scoob!
The Organ Donor
Fast & Furious 9
Artemis Fowl
Wonder Woman 1984
Soul
Ghostbusters: Afterlife
The Purge 5
Tenet
Jungle Cruise
The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It
Venom 2
Halloween Kills
The Eternals
Godzilla vs. Kong
Raya and the Last Dragon

I realized the last third of my list probably won't see a 4K release until 2021, but I put them on here because they are still slated to release in theaters this year and I still believe there's a good chance they will get a 4K disc.

Are we even sure New Mutants is getting released at all, let alone on UHD?

Josh Boone just posted new trailer is expected January 06. Release is April 03.

I mean outside of niche titles and horror, wouldn't mostly every big movie get a UHD release?

Well, it depends on 'big', I guess. It looks like with the exception of The Upside, every movie that grossed $100m+ at the U.S. box office this year made it to Ultra HD Blu-ray or has at least been announced. (That was the case in 2018 as well; every $100m+ grosser domestically made it to UHD BD, with Christopher Robin being the cutoff at $99.2m.)

It gets spottier beneath that. The Addams Family, Downton Abbey, Good Boys, Annabelle Comes Home, A Madea Family Funeral, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, The Curse of La Llorona, and What Men Want all grossed more than $50m domestic but bypassed/are bypassing UHD BD.

And under $50m, it's even more hit or miss.

Horror is definitely a wasteland on Ultra HD Blu-ray, but comedies and prestige pictures are awfully spotty as well. Stop motion animation seems to be a no-go on 4K as well for whatever reason.
