Default Gaming Keyboard?

I'm just trying to help a relative look for a gaming keyboard for their 10 year old son's birthday.

He asked for a gaming keyboard for his Xbox, but he was asking for the HyperX Alloy FPS Pro (HX-KB4RD1-US) seen below, which according to Amazon is for PC gaming, and not intended for console use:



Should I tell my relative to look for something more like these:





Or will the keyboard he's interested in work?

“Most” mice and keyboards work with the Xbox. As far as games are concerned it’s up to the developers to implement it into their games.

Bear in mind where their son plays games, if he's in the living room and the keyboard is on his lap the mechanical ones can be quite heavy (relatively speaking), it wouldn't be an issue if he's using a desk or coffee table for support.

^This. To date only 18 Xbox One games has keyboard and mouse support.
