PS4 all the way.

Apparently, I’ve already made my sentiments clear in this thread and didn’t remember as much.

PS4 has the best games, but the Nintendo Switch is so unique that it's my favorite console this generation. I like how Switch is a console and a mobile device, and uses cartridges, all at the same time.

Xbox One, because of the lack of superb games and exclusives, isn't something I've considered buying. It may be the most technologically advanced console, but it's the games that matter. I haven't seen games that make me want to buy Xbox One. Maybe DOOM (2016), but that's not an exclusive.

Best console = Xbox One. Best games = PS4. Most unique console = Switch.

It's not really a fair question since consoles can never compete with PC (I thought differently when I was a console gamer, but I know better now ) due to its incredible back catalog, versatility, and customization options. Anything else is simply inconceivable.

That said, it is kind of a tough question depending on the criteria. If I didn't have a PC and could only choose one actual console and was limited to current gen games, I would definitely go with the PS4 Pro. But when you consider the amazing collection of BC titles available on the Xbone in addition to the sheer power of the console and its versatility as a media center, I would clearly have to choose the XBone X. Than again, since I already have a PC and have access to such an incredible library of games playable at the highest fidelity, if I could only choose one console as a secondary gaming device it would certainly be the Switch due to its portability and Nintendo's exclusives.

So clearly I cannot choose the glass in front of you.

PC has terrible online DRM and barely any recent games on physical media. PC also doesn't have Uncharted, Horizon Zero Dawn, Detroit, Until Dawn, God of War, Spider-Man, The Last of Us, inFamous, or Red Dead Redemption.

PS4 wins, nothing else comes close.

PC will be getting Detroit and Red Dead 2. Not to mention that quite a few of those titles can be played on PC via PS Now. And bear in mind that the list of titles available on PC that you can't play on PS4 would dwarf any list of Sony 1st party exclusives available on the PS4. If Sony happens to be your favorite developer/publisher, I can understand a subjective preference for their consoles, though. I used to feel the same way about Nintendo.

By the way, you left out the best PS4 exclusive: Bloodborne!

I just voted for the PS4. I also own the Xbox One S but I find I don't game on it as much as I do on the PS4. The S is my primary 4K disc player though.

PC is not an option because I hate DRM and downloadable games.
Xbox One is not an option because the one-time online activation will make all systems unrepairable after official support has ended.
Switch is not an option because I don't expect its cartridges to last more than 20 years (based on comments from the manufacturer: Macronix).

PS4 is the only system this generation with long-lasting physical media and absolutely no online requirements. I am a big fan of Sony's games, but PS4 would be the best (and only) choice for me regardless. I continue to use my Xbox, Xbox 360, SNES, N64, Wii, and Wii U but both Microsoft and Nintendo have lost my business this generation. PC games lost my business 12 years ago when physical games stopped being playable without online activation.

Fair enough. I've never run into DRM issues in all my years of PC gaming, but I used to feel the same way about physical media with gaming. For me, the access to several generations worth of games and being able to play games at the highest level of fidelity matters more, but it's good that we have options. Well, until we don't anymore. I don't imagine we'll see more than one more console generation where physical media is even an option.

I can easily access multiple generations of games. I just use multiple generations of consoles.

That's why it's important to support physical games as much as possible now: to make sure that option continues to be offered for as long as possible. All of the game companies would obviously prefer to just offer digital games, but if their customers want physical games then they'll keep making physical games.

Right on. I prefer having everything accessible on my PC, but there's nothing wrong with collecting consoles.

They still ship them like that (with old firmware)?

It's not a firmware issue. You need to create a profile to play anything and there are no offline profiles.

This sums it up perfectly for me.
And for the record, I own all 3 consoles.

PS4

Doesn’t Matter what console type you own, it hands down makes the operating system in the Xbox seem like a joke.
