Yep, that makes sense. I guess in my mind I was thinking of it as a switch because I'm switching which input the signal is headed to. Either way, as long as it works and I don't need to move the cable around from Port to Port I'll be sound as pound!

Updates to follow.

P.S. I have been doing lots of painting, wiring, tidying, etc. so all of the work is due for a mini build thread. As I make that available I'll post a thread link for those interested. Cheers.

Update, and its not a good one. Finally plugged in the splitter (Techole brand from Amazon) and two short HDMI cables (Zeskit brand from Amazon) and no video. I bought two pairs of the cables and they worked behind the AV equipment. So it has to be the splitter? I was only testing it for cable TV broadcast but it immediately returned when I ran the HDMI direct.

Maybe I should try the one suggested a couple posts above?

Hi peep,

I once got a splitter and it messed up the signals. A switch box would be preferable.

Hope this works out for you.

Some of the Techole devices don't seem to split. What were you attempting, outputting the cable box to HDMI1 and HDMI2 with your BenQ?

How can you send one AV signal to two HDMI inputs with a switch?

Correct. A single long-run HDMI out of the AV receiver, into the splitter on the wall behind the projector, and a 1.5 ft. HDMI each going to input 1 (cable tv, BD, 4k, etc.) and input 2 (3d only) on the projector. Once I placed that piece of the puzzle in the video cut out. It immediately returned when I removed it and put the long-run HDMI back in Input 1 of the BenQ.

so that leads me to believe the splitter is fouling up the video signal? I'm trying to make double sure before I return it and pick out another. I'll happily spend a few extra bucks if it means I got a rock-solid one.

If you unplug one of the outputs does the signal get through? How do you change direction with the signal?

It has been removed so I can't test that for sure. It's a simple push button switch from 1 to 2 on the switcher.

I would assume that that's just going to switch, unless it can detect which way the signal is going.
