I'm very excited and am looking forward to getting it home. Current OLED owners, what can I expect, and will I need to adjust any certain settings out of the box?
Set it to technicolor expert and then get it professionally calibrated after 200 viewing hours.

I was in COSTCO on Saturday and they had the 65 inch LG C8 on sale for only $1,929.99. They appeared to have more then 10 factory sealed retail boxes on display.

That is a awesome price for a 4K 65 inch OLED display.

Prices for OLED's are at about what Plasma TV prices were about 8-9 years ago for 65 inch models. It's progress. But slow. It's still not quite matching LCD prices yet.

No because a 75" LCD LED 4K TV could be add for less than a thou.
The 65" OLED C8 is fine for less than two thou, but not there yet money competitive and size wise. Nice TV, but not without some caveats, just like LED.

The 2019 models are the ones I'm looking forward to check out seriously.

So as I posted, I recently bought a 55 inch B8, and I love it so far. However, whenever I try to use VUDU to watch movies (since they have Dolby Vision), it errors out on me. Does this seem to be a problem for anyone else?

I never once had the issue w/ my SJ8500, so I was *really* looking forward to watching Dolby Vision titles on VUDU with my B8, but this is just aggravating.

I guess VUDU says (claims?) that it's an issue w/ LG's WebOS...

I finally purchased an OLED. Got a great deal on a B8 and I'm loving the PQ. HDR looks amazing with truest inky blacks.

If you think it looks great now, get it a ISF certified calibration and your eyes will pop out of your head.

just don't update the fw updates..keep it at the.15..the fw's screwed up the picture even on those who had their sets pro calibrated. See the AVS forum for more details. I was able to revert back to the .15 fw and glad I did.

Didn't they issue a fix for that faulty FW release? Or do you mean something different the the aggressive ABL issue?

That's I want to know. What specifically he's talking about because he just made a bit of a broad statement.

the.55 fixed the picture adjustment options that were locked by the.31 FW..however there is still a problem with the black crush caused by the .31..

reverting to the .15 or just not updating to the 55 from the .15 is highly recommended at this point.

I'm not aware of anything like that.

Also, surely any set calibrated after that firmware wouldn't have issue anyway as it would be calibrated from the "new norm"?

according to those on the AVS who had their tv's pro calibrated, the .31 FW screwed up the picture. Those that had the capabilities, re calibrated their tv while others were stuck with manual adjustments to off set the black crush. The .55 still has the black crush issue and LG is supposedly working on yet another update to correct this. For me, the .31 caused the crush and I tried the different settings recommended to offset what the FW did but I wasn't happy with with the results so I reverted back to .15 and all is fine again. My E8 is not pro calibrated as it is still too new to have it done should I decide to do so.

UPDATE:

New FW still being tested brings the tv's picture back to .15 settings

New Test FW is available (NSU->ENGINIEERING) :

Firmware version: 05.10.00
