I was really tempted still but ultimately held off. Just too much money for such distasteful treatment. If it was half the price I might've given in.

Not me, I got the blu-ray set on Amazon for like around $100, the sad part is is that the fluff is the only interesting bit, like the artbook.

Not me as I have the Dragon Boxes, the only complete acceptable release. Only way for me to buy Dragon Ball Z again is to have a release that isn't garbage. I am planning on getting the Orange Bricks sometime when they're on-sale though, but only for the Bruce Faulconer score that's not on the Dragon Boxes. I want to watch the show with that track at least once, though I'd sync the audio with the Dragon Boxes, not actually watch the Orange Brick discs that are garbage.

got them in mail today and the pictures on amazon don't do it justice on how big each set is. DBZ is substantially bigger then the smaller Dragon ball set
the outer cardboard case is shrinkwrapped and they each have a handle to hold them by
the list price of dragonball is 139.99
while dragonball z is 219.99

Not moi. I cancelled my order immediately after hearing that it was cropped BS. Iíll just hang on to my Dragon Boxes. Theyíre worth a fortune anyway.

I highly doubt FUNi will author these discs and keep them exclusive to this limited set. Honestly, I might consider getting them if they became available in cheap collections. The transfer still isn’t great, but it’s an improvement from my orange bricks for sure (unlike the current Blu-rays). Not worth almost $400 though.

Those last two images are probably the optical M&E tracks based on the label.

I wish I had snatched up the Dragon Boxes when they were in print. But I was in school and had no money The blu-ray looks terrible. I had season 1, and returned it promptly. No detail. Washed out colors. DBZ shouldn't look like that. It was way too bright.

Just wanted to post this here for anyone whom might be interested. I saw these in-person at a Gamestop over a year ago. It's a very nice set and they are weighty!

Dragon Ball Z 7pc Dragon Ball Set.

50% off store closing at Thinkgeek webstore so $35 + shipping.

I was lucky enough to be able to grab all boxes at regular prices, saved for vol. 2, which I had to pay 180 CAD for one since it went out of print in a hurry.

I remember pre-ordering all 7 volumes because I sold off all my orange brick sets. IIRC nobody knew the Funimation Dragon Boxes were planned to be limited releases until revealed years later. Kind of wish I bought extra copies (would've been a great investment)

I also remember seeing on twitter years ago that Funimation had hoarded a few new copies at random conventions to sell at MSRP which was insulting to fans who had paid significantly more on the seller's market because it was thought to be out of print indefinitely. I've read the Dragon Ball blue bricks aren't nearly as bad as the Z orange bricks but I'd rather own the best version available. I've also held off buying any of the movies on DVD or Blu-ray since they have iffy remastering done in-house.

I'm still hoping maybe someday we can get Dragon Ball Dragon Boxes and a Dragon Box collection of movies 1-17 but Funimation would rather waste time and resources on terrible quality Blu-rays for only Dragon Ball Z.

One Piece TV episodes are still released DVD-only so it's not like the format is completely dead. And if the Dragon Ball Dragon Boxes are limited edition again what's the risk? They will sell out.
