As I recall, "boring" and "a story that leads to nowhere" is pretty spot on. I'm not even sure I finished it. It reminded me of "Dark Water," which I didn't like, either.

One movie that I recommend and is worthy of a blu ray release is Chung Ji Young's war drama, White Badge released in 1992. I would describe it as a Korean Deer Hunter and I believe it's also the only Korean film that deals with wartime atrocities committed by Korean troops against the Viet civilian population. Stars Ahn Sung Ki who gives a fine performance as a journalist turned writer who is attempting to come to terms with his experience as a grunt during the war while also facing the increasing authoritarian rule under the dictatorship of Chun Doo Hwan. It's been available for years on Region 3 disc from Korea and also on Region 1 from Vanguard but a blu ray would certainly be welcome news.

The General's Son trilogy is on sale at Kimchi.
I've been on the fence with this set for a while.
I saw the separate thread but heh, no one said if it was good bad or indifferent?
Would folks recommend it?
Ta!

answered in the dedicated post. Ta!

Bong Joon-ho's "Parasite" won the competition at Sydney Film Festival as well and this is what he had to say he'd do with the $60,000 prize money:

Great news.
I was really lucky this year and finally found the soundtrack for next to nothing on ebay. Looked for that one for ages.
As far as I know it was only released in the silly Limited Edition, and was surely the only thing of worth included with the LE.

Just as I had lost hope of this film getting the full HD treatment, it's been released on blu ray.

For those of you who want to check out "White Badge" 하얀전쟁 (1992) can find a legal upload by the "한국고전영화 Korean Classic Film" YouTube channel:

It most definitely will, most likely as part of the CJ digipak collection.

I noticed The President's Last Bang is back in print in a standard/"plain" edition, since a couple weeks ago.

I managed to snag a copy of the nearly impossible to find limited edition in Seoul last year. I was kind of cold to it when I first watched it a couple years ago, but on rewatching it with a little better understanding of Korean history, I totally love it. It feels like a Scorsese movie in style, but in the deliciously devilish way it deals, almost flippantly, with such an important set of events in the modern history of the country, it is without compare.

Extremely clever, extremely good dark comedy, and an easy recommendation now that it's back in print!

^^ I was intrigued by the trailer.
Thanks for your recommendation.
It certainly looks to have elements of dark comedy in it so will give it a go.

Would this fetch a good price on eBay?
