I think I found a solution to my Xbox going to grey screen when clicking home after guide button.

If I close the game from the quick guide menu, I get no grey screen.
If I go to quick guide while game is running & then click on home screen, I get grey screen.

I assume this means you also cannot get close enough to your router to attempt a wired connection for updates?

no my system is in my room, our router is in another part of the house and not by a tv either. i watched a video last night and on it he said try and unplug it and leave it for about 5 minutes and i did and than that didn't work. it said something how the security protocol is failing. meaning i need to reset that i have no idea to do that.

and i'm what i call computer stupid cause i know a few things but my ADD or ADHD i forget which one i have off the top of my head. they seem really each other to be honest so it can go one ear and the other. though i do better when people show me how to do certain things.

i have not talked to Xbox yet but i just have this feeling man that they will just say you are ****ed and need to buy a new one. i bought on day one and didn't get a warranty cause i could not afford it and the console and some games too.

If you're only worried about updating the console MS has an offline update feature. Here's the web page to walk you through it. Make sure to click on "I need to update my console offline" obviously.

https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-...dates-solution

If you're worried about using wifi in the future it sounds like something got jarred loose or broke with the internal wifi antenna. If you contact Xbox you shouldn't need to buy a new one but they will probably charge for a repair.

well the cover is broke too when it fell and i had to tape it to keep the back shut too. i shook it and something that sounds like a screw or something is loose. i don't have a 4 TB

hard drive at all mine is only 1 TB. i have a 2 for my PS4 though. i have 2 of 1 TB though for my Xbox. and 4 TB is just to damn expensive i think. sure it's cheaper than buying another one X... but how much will it cost to repair it?

anybody have any issues playing uhd discs on an xbox one x? i was trying to watch jumanji 4k yesterday and it keep loading up in 1080p! this isnt the first disc this has happened with either.

edit: i have tried rebooting the console, which works sometimes and deleting/redownloading the blu ray app. the xbox one 4k display configurations show green across all areas. i am running my xbox through this thing (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to an lg uj7700 and onkyo tx-nr1030.

edit 2: i am getting hdr/dolby vision on netflix and games with no issues.

Do they work okay with a direct connection to the tv? That would rule out handshake issues with the splitter.

I just checked mine. 4K works.

I remember (help on this forum) YCC 4:2:2 was the problem.

I think I had to uncheck that option.

Edit,

I ordered this,

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Fast-...lu-ray/240499/

I got sick to my stomach literally because how low people in US pay.

i unchecked the 50hz and 24hz options, checked a few discs, and rechecked the 50 and 24hz playback options. i tried seven discs, all worked on the first try after unchecking and rechecking those options

I have an issue with my Xbox One X, that I hope someone here might be able to help me. My issue is as follows, I am currently not able to play 4K games in HDR, or use apps such as Netflix in HDR. I was able to do this for the past 2 years that I have had the Xbox One X.

What I find strange is that 4K movies still work in HDR, but nothing else will.
I have tried the following to no avail to try and fix this problem.

1. I have tried different HDMI cables, on the same HDMI port on the AVR as well as different HDMI ports on the AVR and nothing worked.

2. I have hooked up the Xbox One X Directly to the TV, I have tried all HDMI ports on the TV, and yes UHD Deep Color is enabled to allow HDR to work on all ports.

3. My PS4 works fine with HDR, so I have tried my PS4 HDMI cable on my Xbox One X, I tired it on the same HDMI port on my AVR that the PS4 was hooked up to and directly to the TV and nothing happens.

4. I have factory rest my TV, Xbox One X and AVR multiple times, I have even unplugged all 3 for about 30 mins, but still had no luck.

5, I have turned on and off various setting in the Xbox One X in hopes of it fixing the problem but it has not. one thing I have notice is while doing this is that when i got to recheck 24hz, it tells me my TV does not support this when it does. I have to shut the TV on and off agian to get it to work.

The only thing I can think of is the HDMI port on the Xbox One X or TV or Both are faulty, but at the same time it raises questions such as. If the HDR is malfunctioning why would it work with 4KUHD movie and the PS4?

In the settings it tells me my TV is 4K60hz its got a green check, 4K24hz playback works, but 4K60hz 10Bit is not supported. My TV is 10bit, as it has worked this way for the last 2 years.

So yeah, I am really hoping someone out there has a solution to my problem.

Thanks
blurayjunkie.

This was the fix for me when I had 4K & HDR troubles.

Not necessarily a tech issue, but I didnít think it deserved its own thread. On a average, how long does it normally take for your games to the console? Is it a game by game or internet basis

No problem.

It does depend on your internet speed & the file size.

If you have good internet 50+ mbps & the game is around 40 GBs, then it usually takes 4 hours. Shorter time if game size is lowwer internet speed higher.

Edit

Example of mine,

I have 150 mbps & downloading a 80GB game takes me 3 hours.

Thanks Derb. Thatís what I thought, but Doom filled me with doubt because it took so long last night. I ended up going to bed. On the bright side, the console shut itself off once it was done apparently.

No problem,

One other thing,

If others in your household are using internet, that can slow down download speed.

Doesnít matter what frequency band others are using, they will consume your bandwidth while using the internet.
