Good conference, lacking on exclusive titles.

Horizon looked really good as did Gears 5, so I'll grab both of them

Huge fan of the Gears of War franchise. Finished the first 3 and Judgement on my Xbox 360. I havenít been able to play part 4 because I canít download the most recent game update. It looks like I will have to haul my console to my sisterís house and tap into her high-speed internet.
Damn these updates.

Apart from Gears: Judgement, the franchise has never disappointed, and i bought Gears 4 on PC before finishing it on the Xbox 1X Enhanced edition. Absolutely top level entertainment. So pleased that Gears 2 and 3 are Enhanced on the 1X, now all we need is the re-release of Gears 1 to follow the same path. Upscale the game to 1440p at 60fps and we're good to go...

I understand that, B90, but on a 4K display, the game looks kind of awkward, as it's running at 1080p and 60fps. The 1X has more than enough power to plug in an upscaler to render it at a mid-point resolution of 1440p. Just a suggestion...

(Oddly enough, i have 2 PS4's, a launch 2013 model that sounds like a goddamn hoover when you turn it on and i play 1080p games on that, and reserve my PS4 Pro for the Enhanced titles. )

I mistakenly thought that Gears 5 was going to be released on Microsoftís next console in 2020.

The game file is going to be HUGE!

Last year it was reported that the devs were targeting native 4K60 on Xbox One X for Gears 5. It'll look glorious if that's the case. Native 4K is a guarantee.

As someone whose ranked top 120 in TDM with a 50 win loss and 3.0 KDR in UE lol

I once switched from playing gears 4 to back to gears 1 (UE) and I guess the xbox or tv got stuck and it was still displaying in 4k with HDR and wow it looked utterly insane playing. So the chops are there I think its just not active.

This is going to be so freaking clean looking in native 4k. Can't wait.

Yeah I also can't wait to see the HDR in this one. 4 was done really well and I'm hoping there's no broken implementation on this one.

i installed 4 on my X this weekend and holy shit did it take forever i swear we must have shitty internet connection i dunno cause counting the downloading of the game and the update it took damn near 24 hrs. i dunno how many hrs but it might as well be 24.

i also let me add at some point said screw it and put other games on as well and with me needing to sleep and the console shutting off by itself hence why it felt like it took 24 hrs.

it's a really big game and there are a couple of really big updates and they are all in the 4-12gb size for the updates. I think the game was like 20gb or something.

every time I get say a tombraider or Doom update, it's almost always at least 4-12gb in size.

tell me about it man, that took ****ing forever and i thought it would never end no joke.

like i said i ended up just saying screw it and bought a new one though i didn't throw my old one away or anything. who knows i may get that fixed one day and i can have 2 X's.

so i spent the last few days installing my games and than putting them on one of my hard drives. that took forever and the gears 4 update and installation of the game didn't help at all

No season or Gears pack. All maps free.

https://screenrant.com/gears-5-free-...-pass-changes/

Quote:
The most notable changes to the content plan are a lack of Season Passes, the removal of Gear Packs, and the fact that DLC maps will be free for players to access regardless of whether it's for public matchmaking or just personal use. There's also a new Tour of Duty system being introduced as a way for players to earn content ó this system is going to incentivize players to complete specific in-game challenges for corresponding customization rewards, and these challenges will change each season. Playing game modes like Escape and Versus will also provide you with opportunities to earn content, and all the time that you spend in multiplayer will rack up towards earning you a free Supply Drop of items that can't be bought with real money.

Quote:
While it's not a complete departure from microtransactions, what Gears 5 is doing with its approach to content is arguably a step in the right direction. It's good that the traditional mechanic of gambling on content with in-game currency is being eliminated here; all purchases made by players of premium content have been termed 'direct' purchases by the team behind the game. This means that you'll know exactly what cosmetic item you're purchasing when you spend cash. Ensuring that pay-to-win mechanics aren't preyed upon or exploited by those with the financial resources to hoard in-game currency is another positive measure that will keep the playing field level in multiplayer.
