It could be the case, there's definitely something going on since not one of them are talking publicly about it. It could be the case that AMD are not ready to discuss it yet so have MS and Sony locked in to an NDA until next year.

Microsoft have at least revealed that it will indeed be hardware accelerated. Sony has basically given no info on the matter.

This is such a big feature that you'd think any manufacturer whose device supports it would be telling everyone the first chance they get, like Microsoft did.

This would have been more appropriate had Scarlett Johansson introduced Microsoft's next console.

They didn't talk about multiple SKUs, but if the rumored Lockhart/Anaconda holds true perhaps hw accelerated ray tracing will only be in the more advanced SKU.

It'll die off by next week. It's usually only me and about 2 others regularly around here.

That would place even more burden on the developers. I can't see them going that route.

Let's just pretend the last day or so never happened. We need to leave the console wars rubbish at the door and stick to the topic at hand.

Let's take a look at the big xbox interview courtesy of Eurogamer.

Thank you. I am looking forward to buy the new Fable on disc.
I dunno why they bother continuing an interview when he says we are not gonna share “anything” that has already been shared. I’d be like Well thanks for your time, excuse me while I re-watch that Project Scarlet trailer.

There are more and more reports coming in that the leaked next-gen Xbox two SKU strategy is put on hold for now and Microsoft might go into next-gen with one SKU. I have no updates on this other than the fact that yes, obviously 1 1/2 years before release plans can change.

My take: the idea of a "value" next-gen Xbox that is priced lower than the competition sounds great to reach more people. I don't see any substantial technical sacrifices to be made to games if you scale with resolution and effects that are part of the PC gaming everyday world.

Much like the next Halo game, I could see this console being called the Xbox Infinite or the "XI."

Not trying to be facetious (and there is truly nothing funny about it), but if MS named it “XI” I bet some really special people would probably make a big deal about an “American” product made in China and named after the Chinese president.

Btw, I know some Xbox are made in RoC and some are made in PRC, and that these are not the same country.

Just to clarify, I don't think MS would market it as the "XI." I just meant I could see gamers adopting that term as a an acronym when referring to it. Personally I like it. The "XI" is simple and it rolls off the tongue.

XBOX One XT
1. Signifies it's an evolution of XB1X family, fully backwards compatible
2. Imbedded 'neXT'
3. Call can be shortened to 'XT'

or XBOX One Alpha-Super-Awesome-Cool-Dynamite-Wolf-Squadron

XT is also the name of AMDs top new GPU the 5700XT.

Synergy! Maybe by calling it XT, AMD will lower their rates and thats how MS will compete w/ Sony on price.

I would drop the "One' moniker altogether. I would disassociate the next gen Xbox from the current gen as much as possible. The Xbox XT or Xbox Alpha would work. I still like the Xbox Infinity or XI. Or how about go a more ubiquitous route and just call it Xbox?

I would just be happy to call it The New Xbox and just refer to it as Xbox.

So since M$ is not releasing 2 different versions at launch is that a guarantee that the second model they was going to release be the one they release in about a year or 2 after the first model?
