Must've been the case because there hasn't been a release in 11 months.

I preordered Boruto Set 1 on Amazon but there's a 99.9% chance that I end up cancelling it before release. The next two months are absolutely huge for me as far as new releases go. I counted 10 things between the end of this month and April that I may buy, including Boruto in that list.
Well at $50-60 a standard edition no wonder why.

Well, the reason is simple- Shippuden didn’t sell well enough in Japan to justify BD releases. While volume to volume sales may be fine, consider the length. 500 episodes for Shippuden. Too much anime to spend BD production time on compared to other shows.

Germany has Shippuden on BD, but as it’s Region B, reverse importation is far less of a concern than North America.

I like the releases though, but the episode count is interesting, guess they wanted a way to sell the bount arc. I got set 2 currently, and set 1 on the way. I wish they'd get 5 out already.

Original Naruto can be used to test the waters. They're gonna have to bite the bullet sometime, it's unacceptable that DVD is still the only medium to own a series just because Japan is worried. I get the region importing, but viz themselves are getting Indigo out., Funi is getting older series out.

Watch them use the “HD remaster” instead of doing the correct option- SDBD.

Nah Viz will probably start putting Shippuden out before the original Naruto, wait and see. They started releasing Bleach on Blu-ray too early after the DVD series ended and now they'll pull it again with Shippuden.

I disagree on the Bleach thing. They started from the beginning, so imo, it makes sense, the first BD for Bleach was in 16, and the dvd's were 2008/9, and were well within TV appearing on Bluray then. And as for Naruto,

I'd like an HD upconvert kept in same aspect ratio

Not gonna happen. SDBD is the best option at this point, but even if Viz does one, they’ll probably use the exact same same files as the DVD releases and not re-encode to AVC and 480p.

$39.96 in store, couldn't pull the trigger on it. I went back and forth with myself on if I was gonna buy it or not but I decided not to. It comes inside of a pretty neat plastic box to house the case and t-shirt in one. The box didn't feel disposable but I suppose you could throw it out if you didn't want it.

It's just baffling the whole "Split into parts, and charge the same as entire seasons" bit. The only live action show I was into that did that was BSG03, and then only in two seasons, Two EXTREMELY LONG seasons. I feel for people who collected shows on VHS.
