You see, the issue here is that your orders were months apart, and didnt progress too far in the order process.

I seem to be made to suffer. It's my lot in life.

This haul pic is going to be hilarious.

Seems like its the same thing with all these stores, its all a matter of who you get for customer service.

You anime fans are slacking on the database.

I added the forthcoming Japanese version, though I wonder if the current price of 6,261 is the lowest it has been/will drop to. I suppose we shall see.

I'm not much of an anime fan, but I do enjoy this period of 35mm anime animation. I watched the ten-minute trailer for the Japanese Blu-ray release and was pretty impressed with the animation and style, so I've ordered the Discotek Blu-ray, as it seems that it will be sold out (and out of print) shortly anyway (I also took a chance on Kimagure Orange Road to support getting more 35mm remastered anime, and that is a total blind buy, so I hope I like it). Hopefully, I will really enjoy Venus Wars, and then I can get the remastered Japanese Blu-ray, too. I really love a good remaster from 35mm film.

I can't see anyone who enjoys that style/era of anime NOT enjoying Venus Wars. It's a classic

A 4K screening of the movie will be held at the Annecy festival this year in France.
I suppose it will use the new master used for the JP BD release.

I'm sure not!
I mean, some changes take forever to approve, and some releases are the same!

I received the Discotek Blu-ray today and just finished watching it tonight. It's a fun little movie, if a trifle scattershot at times. The picture quality is good, but the source has a bit of dirt and, strangely, cue blips, even though it doesn't look like a 35mm release print, particularly as the dirt and debris is white. Also, there is a fair bit of video noise and/or compression artifacts mixed in with the grain, something which is less noticeable in standard motion, but obvious when playing the film slowly forward or backward.

The sound is decent, but oddly, quite low. I had to turn my receiver's volume up from its usual 45 to 54, which is something I almost never have to do. At the higher volume, dialogue is clear, but the music seems a little bit muffled. And I also noticed a few pops (possibly mini-dropouts), usually during scene transitions. I will admit, though, that I neglected to check the English track for comparison.

That's not to say, however, that the Discotek is not worth getting itself. The picture looks quite good in motion and the audio is generally fine at the higher volume level, and perhaps most importantly, the English subtitles seemed excellent, so I will certainly miss them on the Japanese Blu-ray.

Still, I'm looking forward to getting the Japanese Blu-ray, as there is a good deal of room for improvement, and I really liked the animation.

Cue marks are usually apart of Interpositives or other later pre-print elements.

I have 2 copies of Discotek Venus Wars.

Ordered one from an eBay seller for a fair price ($25 shipped).

I had ordered one, and forgotten about, from Rightstuf. I was in the UK all last week not checking email and not looking at orders, so it shipped. Whoops.

Not sure if I will send it back or wait for the price to sky rocket and be "one of THOSE bung holes"

I really want to buy this, but I'm holding out for an updated release with the new master. Make it happen Discotek!
