Default Rumor: Final Fantasy VII Remake

Gamestop Ireland has posted a listing for Final Fantasy VII Remake on their website. It is not known if this is a mistake or a leak, but if there is an announcement to come it will be June 9/10 between either MS E3 or SE E3.

Quote:
Final Fantasy 7 Remake has only been confirmed for PS4 since its initial announcement at E3 2015, and we haven’t seen any sign of that changing beyond vague hints that it could only be a timed-exclusive. Until now, that is. GameStop Ireland has posted a listing for an Xbox One version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, possibly leaking that the long-in-development game will be coming to Microsoft’s console as well as PS4.
The listing includes screenshots and pricing information, with the ability to actually pre-order Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Xbox One. It’s quite possible that this listing was added to GameStop Ireland as a mistake, but it’s also possible that the gaming retail giant has leaked that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming to the Xbox One.

Video games being leaked on retail websites is nothing new, especially this close to E3. It’s possible that Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference on June 9 will include the announcement that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming to Xbox One, and GameStop has spoiled the surprise. There’s also a chance that an Xbox One version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake could be announced during Square Enix’s E3 2019 press conference on June 10 as well.

It would be financially foolish of Squeenix to keep this PS exclusive even for a limited time. With how long their games take to make this won't be a PS5 launch title (which is when an exclusive deal would make the most sense). Get it out on PC and Xbox as well and make more money.

This is what happened with FFXIII originally it was PS3 only then when it was delayed MS was able to swoop in and make a deal to have it released same day as PS3 for the Xbox

Kind of curious how this would do on Xbox in Japan. Most Japanese gamers have either never owned a Xbox or barely use it. But since this is a game most Japanese fans know about and love, it does make it confusing if this would sell enough there or not to Xbox.

Japanese gamers are mostly either on Playstation, Nintendo or on their Smartphones.

Though PS4 had Final Fantasy VII (non remake) on the PSN Store for a little over 3 years before Xbox and Switch got it.

I played FFVIII on PS2 and I found it awful. FFVII I have not played but I've seen the original as well as the trailer for the remake. Not sure how linear the story is going to be but I remember not being able to step backwards in FFVIII.

There clearly is a market for this type of RPG.

RPG that deserves a modern remake = Original Ultima IV. The answers to the questions at the bottom of the abyss were truly mind blowing WTF.

Back to FF. No, I am not interested in this at all, even as a PS4 owner.

FFVIII I believe took like 15-16 hours to open the open world map once you did that it was like getting out of Midgar in FFVII, and honestly to each his own I loved FF IV - VII some of my fondest memories are playing those games. So VII getting remade so my son when he gets older can experience it and enjoy it yeah it has my attention.

My Modern remake wish list is Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana

I prefer the original game on NES.

Put a boat load of hours into that gem back in the day.

Sure thing. There are certain games that just click. Surely there will be many that will enjoy the remake!

I guess I missed the part where they said “only” but it’s no loss for me. I know I’m in the minority here but I thought finishing this game was a chore so it won’t be on my PS4 either.

If they were doing a FF Tactics remake or Ogre Battle remake, different story.

I would've preferred to play it on my Xbox One X but I'll still get it for PS4. The E3 video has me very excited!
