I've signed up back into XBOX Insiders Program in the hopes of early access/testing possibilities of the MSFS.

There has been very good coverage of the reboot of the Flight Simulator and it seems to have woken up interest of many, including PC.

In addition to usual IGN & Gamespot coverages,

ubergizmo.com
allgamers.com
vmvirtualmachine.com
reddit.com
techraptor.net
windowscentral.com
variety.com
Engadget.com
polygon.com
game-debate.com
dailymotion.com
flightsim.com
ggwpreport.com
bleedingcool.com
gadgetsclick.com
gurugamer.com
thetechgame.com
etc.,
etc.

These were just English coverage.

So there seems to be a high demand for the return of the FS. This is great!

SPECULATION: With a strong PC/XBOX foundation, MS can provide regular updates (like Minecraft) + planes, missions, etc. so it does not become a new buy every few years. I think that is why the title is simple 'Flight Simulator'.

No lie, this is probably my most anticipated game... It's just something completely fresh and a unique experience for a change. Will make a nice change from all the shooting and driving games that are about.

Until the fighter planes are added!

I agree. It is hard to wait until I taxi the plane onto the runway and finally get the tower's clearance for the take off.

Is there an Iceman or Viper on this forum?

This right here is what I fully expect them to do. Get it on Gamepass and then offer more plans and locations via dlc for the next couple of years.

MS has the right strategy. Make it available for a wide audience at virtually no risk of paying for the whole game then not liking it.

There was an announcement from MS Flight Simulator Team over the weekend.

https://fsi.microsoftstudios.com/

Gist of the post (copy&pasted from the announcement):

1.We are making Microsoft Flight Simulator. Emphasis on the word SIMULATOR.

2.Designed for PC, optimized for multiplatform support (e.g. Xbox).

3.Yes. We are supporting 3rd Party Content Development and Community Content creation. We are aware of the concerns in the current eco-system and are working to address them.

4.Yes. We genuinely want to work closely with the community in the development of this title.

5.Accessibility is important to us. Whatever your abilities are, if you want to fly, we are going to do whatever we can to make that happen. Yoke and pedals, mouse and keyboard, controller, etc. No pilot should be left behind.

All good news.

Excellent, looking forward to #5. Xbox controller is fine but a flight stick is a lot of fun.

Will be interested to know what kinds of video cards would be needed for multi monitor support so you have the front of the plane and 2 side monitors for left and right windows

There was a general development update on 07/11 @fsi.microsoftstudios.com regarding start of the Insider Program in early Aug as planned.

There will be another development update on 07/25 regarding Aug/Sept plans.

Thanks for keeping this thread updated. I got in the MCC and SoT's Insider Programs so I'm hoping to get in on this as well.
