Lot of "closet" Def Tech owners on the board. Didn't know there were so many of you.

I've been working on some way to get at least a set of BP6 towers and a CLR2002 center into my system. I think if I sell my stuff locally I can swing it without too much issue.

Well, got permission from the warden to sell my speakers and buy the Def techs. I'm pretty excited. Trying to sell 'em locally so that I don't have to mess with shipping.

Going to pick up the DP6 and the CLR 2002. I like the ProCenter as well, but honestly the look, fit and finish of the CLR goes better with everything.

Common Aramis. Now that the Warden is on your side, go for the BP 7000SC. They are only $5,500 a pair. With good behavior, you will be out of the dog house in no time.

I heard my buddy's Def tech BPs in is HT in his basement about 5 years ago and was just totally floored by their sonic prowess at that time I had a bose acoustimas 16. Ever since that day, bose was out of my life and I was on an upgrade path. I did own the DT pro cinema 1000 5.1. That sucker was sooooo damn good that I kept on wanting more and more.Even my sister in law loved it so much that she begged me to sell it to her.

LOL, yeah right. I have a bathroom to re-do with that kind of money. I am looking at the used market for some of the sub-equipped models, but I really like the service provided at that store so far. Full warranty, and he agreed to chip off $50 from the CLR center I was looking at. Not much, but considering Def Tech sets their prices, I was suitably impressed.

Well, I just picked up my BP6's. $500 for the pair at Flanner's- best deal around outside of ebay! I haven't calibrated them yet, and I'm waiting on the center to arrive (hope it comes on Monday!) I'm using one of my Polk 40's as a center, so overall my setup is kind of temporary. Even so, they sound great so far! Sound is so much more airy- the sound really fills the room. I had a slight issue with my oddly-set up room previously that there was a small sweet spot- not anymore. Once I get my center in I'll take some pics.

Great speakers- such a pain to move around though with that damned sock- it's hard to get ahold of them. I'll update more after I get my system all in place, calibrated and broken in.

How about the BP7001SC has anyone listened to those??? I wanted to get 4 of those after a lot of reading and researching on line. But I have decided to get 4 of the Mythos STS's instead based on their footprint in the house and their look's and reviews for their sound. Has anyone listened to the STS's???

What are you even talking about? "Boss" as in bad-ass or as in Bose? If you mean Bose... GTFO. If you mean another brand, have you listened to Def Tech? What don't you like about them?

As far as the BP7001SC- yeah they're awesome. I think 4 of them is overdoing it though. You'd be better off going with some bipolar surrounds backed up by a subwoofer than something like that.

Personally, I really liked the BP's sound and ability to fill a room. This isn't to say that I think the Mythos are bad at all (they're definitely not) but I wasn't looking for that kind of sound.

I was actaully thinking of 4 BP7001SC and the other 2 later for a total of 6 along with a supercube reference. But i will do this with the mythos sts instead. And as for overdoing it......It is better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it lol!

Not really the same thing. Surround channels typically don't have the same information and push that the front 3 do- which is why many folks use bookshelf or satellite speakers. Each of those will need an AC outlet for the subwoofer. They're also going to need additional amplification over just an AVR. I have no idea what your setup is, but if you don't have separate amps for this kind of setup you're going to need it.

I'm sure if it were properly set up and configured it'd sound great, but a much simpler setup would probably sound very comparable, take up less room, eat up less power, and need less hardware.

Default Looking for a DT dealer

Hi everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my set-up from Promonitor800s to BP8B or BP10B towers. I had a dealer which I bought my current set-up from and unfortunately he no longer carries Definitive. Can someone help me out and PM me with a dealer with good prices?

If you want the warranty, it'd have to be a brick and mortar shop- they don't sell online.

Generally speaking, you do not get a discount on Def Tech speakers. In most cases, you have to pay the list price.

These are the authorized Definitive Technology online dealers:

Some Best Buy Magnolia Centers sell Def Tech speakers. For other local dealers, enter your zip code in the following link and get a list.

I would look at either Best Buy Magnolia which they carry them or a 6 ave.com. Or try Amazon.com are you going to sell your pro 800?

I just picked up a pair of the BV2x's from 6ave. They were open box but were brand new when I got them. I'm very pleased with the price on them too- saved me almost $100.

How are you liking the BP2X's. I have been thinking of upgrading my surrounds to those.

Man, now you got me wanting some def techs! I heard some of the super towers last year and loved them but they were outta my price range. I'm looking at getting for the front L/R either BP6B, BP8B, BP10B, or BP7006. Don't know which is best bang for the buck. I like the fact the 7006 has built in supercube sub and amp. In theory, if I went that way couldn't I run those separate from my receiver and have my receiver take care of the other 5 speakers? This would give me loads more bass combined with my sub.

They make the rear soundfield MUCH more open and airy.
