I'm still heartbroken over some missing titles, but pretty happy with it. To go from about 150 to 50, I asked myself : Which ones were standing in the way for the ones I really want to make it and are actually very well or over-represented in these lists already? A lot of pre-90s got deleted. Next I started to listen to my heart and wondered what feeling the titles gave me. That's how -what some would call guitly pleasures- stayed. And next I wondered which ones I wanted to re-watch right now and would be revisited many times. I'm cool with it.

Side-note : Beauty and the Beast was going to be at 50, but I replaced it with Swiss Army Man as a tribute to BR.com-member Impossible. And because just thinking about the movie makes me smile immediately. An indication this might become an all time fave in time.

I am glad this is a "favorite" film list rather than a "greatest" or "best" list as it will make it easier to compile a list without worrying about whether guilty pleasures should be included.

This will take a little bit of time for me but looking forward to it.

I am sure people will utilize all sorts of different criteria when making their lists, which is why the results will be so interesting. That is why we decided to allow up to 50, so everyone could include a little of everything that is important to them.

Here's my top 50, + blu-ray releases where available. For trilogies, etc, I decided to include only my favourite entry. The top 12 are the movies I consider particularly perfect, all of which I may be known to interchangeably refer to as my favourite film of all time. If you want to read my pontifications about these films, see the IMDb list linked in my signature.

We're talking about our personal favorites, with no attempt at objective analysis?

This is almost too overwhelming.

Top 100 movies...in order.

I don't think I can do it.

...I don't have the strength.

Well first of all, you can only list up to 50. Other than that, your list is whatever you want it to be. You can list your favorites or you can list the movies you feel are the most influential and accomplished. My suggestion would be a little of both since there is probably a lot of overlap between the two criteria. Have fun with it. Make your list your own.

My first inclination is this particular trilogy should be counted as one movie, but I must admit I have never seen it and have little knowledge about it, so thought I would check with the group for input.

No one else has voted for it so far, so I'm not sure what the chances are, but you never know. Best to resolve it now so as not to confuse the counting later.

47 people have either reserved a spot or started a list already. That is outstanding for this early on, but I'd like that number to go much higher. Voting will be open till September 16th so please join in!

Well over 500 different movies have already been voted for so whatever your tastes are, don't hesitate.
