My first car was a hand-me down '78 Toyota Celica hatchback.

*random internet pic*
^ This was my first manual transmission auto. I've been driving stick-shift ever since.

this one wasn't mine. the only difference though was that mine had the standard rally rims instead of the body-colored rims in this pic.

it was my dad's car and he had the engine rebuilt by our neighbor (man knows more about cars than i could ever hope to in 2 lifetimes). it ran like a dream, had a hole in the passenger floor, only had a windshield wiper on the driver's side. but it was mine.

we sold it when i got my next car. wish i still had it though, i'd restore it.

My first car was a 1990 (or '91?) Mazda B2600i extended cab pickup truck. It was white, had a 2.6 liter inline 4 cylinder with a 5 speed manual. I had the windows tinted really dark, and installed a really nice sound system with some amps and a subwoofer. I was only 18 at the time, so it was great just to have wheels.

The body and paint was immaculate. But every now and then, I'd have mechanical issues. Whether it was the engine overheating/crappy radiator, the clutch going out (wasn't an issue, just wear and tear), or some other problems that I can't remember any more. But that was the car that I learned how to drive stick on. It wasn't the best manual transmission in the world, but it did the job.

I'll also list my subsequent cars that I owned because, why not?

1996 Honda Civic DX hatchback
1993 Toyota 4Runner SR5 V6 4x2 ......LOVED that truck!!
1999 Honda Civic DX hatchback ......LOVED that car!!
2002 Honda Civic Si hatchback .......current car that I've had for about 8 years. It's been extremely reliable. Looking to get a 2011 Honda Civic Si sedan soon.

My first car was a 1967 Pontiac Tempest. I paid $300 for it 1975. It had 28,000 miles on it. I even installed an 8-track player with 4 Jensen speakers pumping out some Black Sabbath, The Doors, and The Beatles. It was an awesome car to cruise around in. Ah the old days.

This not the actual car I owned. Picture is for reference only.

My first car in the 80's was my Mom's old 1977 RX4. Yup...a fast rotary engine disguised as nice little 4-door sedan. The car pictured was not mine, but exactly the same, down to the green color. Although the bug guard was not on my car.
