I would wager that poster would not post here if disc sales were positive most of the time. Too bad his post at AVS have all been deleted. Been posting any and everything negative about Blu-ray he can find. Some others here do the same so he does not have a patent on that.

I appreciate that he maintains this thread whatever his motivations are for doing so. It is really that simple. I haven't seen anyone else offer to do it.

To be fair, most of the sales data has been negative for a very long time; that's not his fault. He did not create the information that he is reporting. He has not giddily posted seven times in seven days that discs are doomed like someone else here has done... and has done repeatedly in the past.

I have had my share of disagreements with Lee. I am simply thanking him for his contributions here in this thread. We are far from becoming besties, but I give credit where it is due and whether we like him or not he provides us all with information. You both come here to read what he posts the same as I do; I see nothing wrong with thanking him for it.

I don't care what his motivations are; he is providing a useful service for which he receives little thanks. We all benefit from his efforts.

No one who has professesed their love for physical media has volunteered to run this thread. He offered the job to you once and you balked instantly.

I won’t be posting in here again until a fan of the format takes over. Will just check Home Media Play.

You should want this thread to be run by someone without any bias unless you really just wanted a warm fuzzy echo chamber all along.

A fan of physical media was offered the job; he turned it down. He apparently lacked the commitment.

Where else will you retreat from when faced with... *gasp* ...comments that you dislike?

Amazing you can lie through your teeth and get away with it. I dare you to find posts I have made that cast a negative light on PM sales. And let's be clear about this. Posts I have specifically said negative things about PM. Me saying disc sales are dropping doesn't count. That's just a fact.

Come on Wendell . . . put your money where your mouth is . . . FIND THE POSTS!

It’s been ran by disc lovers without bias in the past.

Have it your own way Vilya, don’t say you weren’t warned.

How come when someone says that they are not going to post again, they ALWAYS do?

You had the opportunity to run this thread, but you declined instantly. I guess you know a thankless job when you see one.

The information being provided now comes from the exact same sources as it did before. Lee usually posts this information without any comment of his own; it does not get more unbiased than that. Of Lee's last 10 posts, 8 of them were simply data without any personal comment from him at all.

You just don't like him and you take every opportunity that you can to express that dislike. He posted the 1st quarter sales data without comment and you decided to reply to my comment about that data by throwing him under the bus.

You're kinda being the guy that comes to a person's home, eats their food, and then insults them for offering it.

Default Too Many Superhero Movies and TV Shows!

Well I said this a while back, there are too many Superhero Movies and TV Shows. So now Emily Blunt has said the same thing. What do you guys think, and do you feel it has anything to do with the way things are going now. Superhero saturation and viewer response!

Your constant posting in the Digital & Physical thread of how well SVOD is doing while pointing out physical is in decline. You know very well SVOD ≠ physical ownership. In that thread you have pointed out that EST is doing well so you know EST = physical ownership. Also noted, you have not posted in that thread EST has slipped 18% in Q1 of 2021.

Sales numbers and their discussion belong in THIS thread. I posted the DEG Q1 2021 report. I did not comment on it as the numbers speak for themselves.

And just to be clear . . . I have never and will never "purchase" an EST.

Sorry Wendell, as much as you think you accomplished the task - you failed to show I post negative comments on PM. You can always try again but I seriously doubt you will succeed. You general comments in this post just prove it.

Couldn’t agree with you more. It used to be an event when a Marvel or even DC movie was released, but can’t say that anymore it seems. I don’t stay current with all the shows, but will still buy most of the movies when they come out due their technical merits. It is like seeing a great band live for the first time, but when they come through town every 3 months afterwards, the shows aren’t as exciting and special.

Sorry I haven't been commenting or updating much. I do appreciate Lee's weekly updates in that regard. I will update the sales table (over a year out of date now, although only a few months behind on my Excel spreadsheet shortly, as well as comment on the Q1 DEG results and trends. When the big titles return then I think sales will return as well to what they would have been if not for covid.

I wish they would return to the live action movies of the 90's, or at least have more of that style (my favorite decade for action movies). At least there was some semblance of realism. Superhero movies are great, to a point, but it's still like watching a cartoon, and after a while it becomes boring to me.

I do not agree with you often, but I do on this subject.

I got burnt out on this genre and that has left me with a big backlog of these movies to get through.

Bruce is right; many of these movies are like watching a glossy over stylized cartoon and most have a bad case of infectious sequelitis.

I have always appreciated Bruce's contributions here, but in reality the day to day responsibility for this thread lies with the person who is doing the work now.

For whatever reason, Lee is doing the heavy lifting these days and he deserves the same thanks that his predecessors did regardless of how any of us feel about his opinions. Lee usually posts this information without any personal commentary. A quick check of his post history in this thread will readily confirm that most of his posts only contain the data that we all come here to read.
