I like to see Gundam ZZ get that sort of recognition. It usually gets such a bad rap due to its lousy first half, but once things start going it's just as stellar as Zeta.

Yeah, the first half of ZZ can be a little ridiculous, but Haman Karn is my favorite female Gundam character of all time, so getting her to be the central villain was awesome. Not only that, but the episode where the colony is dropped on Dublin was incredible. It showed that Haman was not the villain to be taken lightly.

1. The Gundams are actually being used as the ultimate weapons like they are. There is no whiny child being ordered by a tyrannical ahole who runs the military treating him like **** but still having him pilot the Gundam. 2. The Mobile Dolls concept was unique. 3. Deathscythe is the seconds best Gundam ever. 4. Nice animation. 5. A kick ass soundtrack by Kou Otani and amazing opening songs. 6. Each pilot was different from one another as they all came from different backgrounds and had their own personalities. Not to mention all of them were likable. 7. Memorable villains to be found be it Treize or Zechs. 8. The fights between the Mobile suits. 9. Duo and Catherine are awesome. Yes, there are some negatives to Wing, such as Relena's endless quest to die (why couldn't Heero just kill her in the sixth episode??) and it can get convoluted at times, but that is something every Gundam series is guilty of. In all honesty, no Gundam series needs to be 50 episodes long. Hell, most series would be perfect at the 30-40 episode mark. Last edited by Vlad Draculi; 01-21-2015 at 04:40 AM. |

Gundam was always my holy grail anime in the 80s and I never got to see anything other than an unsubbed version of War in the Pocket and stuff in magazines like Animerica and imported Newtypes.
Finally worked through the UC stuff in the past year - OG, Zeta, War in the Pocket, MS 08th Team and Char's Counterattack. Haven't seen ZZ and I am waiting on the final volume to watch Unicorn. War in the Pocket is still my favorite Gundam series but I liked all of the UC stuff and its focus on the effects of war on both sides and treating the mechs purely as mechanical tools. Watched F-91 and thought that was hot garbage. Really hoping The Origin comes out here, the manga is fantastic. A friend lent me Tomino's novels for First and those were pretty great too. I watched a bit of each of Wing and Seed back in the day, neither really grabbed me, though. |

lol
War in the Pocket for me is the absolute worst Gundam series. It is so damn boring and focuses more on an annoying little brat than actually being a Gundam series. I would rather watch Gundam Clipshow Destiny before I ever suffer through 0080 again. I'm also not a fan of CCA because it drags on way too long and there is no payoff to the ending. Not to mention Char is an entirely different character from how he was at the end of Zeta. |

That is pretty darn high... I hope we have less expensive options for the Gundam complete sets when they come out.
Here is something from the description though: "This collector's edition comes with a 296-page storyboard and settings art book, a 32-page booklet featuring comic text by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, and a 12-page special booklet, all in a storage box illustrated by Yasuhiko." So for those who don't want the extra goodies, a cheaper version will probably be released when this edition sells out. |

I decided to just import the standard edition from Amazon Japan: http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00Q9VX37G
Comes out to $52.24 (with shipping / no tax). The Standard Edition still includes the same two booklets. The Collector's Edition just has the LD-sized packaging and storyboard book as additional extras. |

Ordering from TRSI can save me sales tax and shipping charges. I'm presuming that Daisuki's a California company, but I may be wrong about that. |
