With the Hulu-Showtime combo, you can only watch the live stream on the website, not on any devices like Roku. That's a big drawback.

Please note: At launch on Hulu, you will be able to watch live only on the web at http://www.hulu.com.

I wouldn't imagine it'd be that big a drawback, particularly if it works like HBO, in that their content shows up, quite literally, seconds after it begins.

EDIT: Seinfeld is in HD.

I already have Showtime Anytime and their movie selection is dire and besides their original programming, it's useless.

I agree. Their movie catalog is awful. Very few New Release titles. Most of it is old stuff and DTV crap. The movie selection at HBO Go is much better.

Yeah, it's 720p. Hulu is also good for new seasons of The Mindy Project since they picked it up from Fox and the massive Criterion collection!

anyone know a legitimate, not too complicated way of getting more than a one week trial?

i've really had no interest in hulu, because netflix, prime, vudu and all the cable premiums through a cox bundle deal is already a lot.

however, with both seinfeld AND x-files on there in hd for now, i'm thinking about it.

but 1 week is simply not enough time to evaluate.

thx.

I think your best bet is really to just pay the $8. You could, alternatively, sign up for Bing Rewards. It'd take roughly two weeks, but if you were diligent, and did enough to gain all the points for each day, you'd have enough to redeem for a free month of Hulu.

I signed up a little over a month ago, and I've already received two months, and I'm halfway to my third. I just take a minute or two each day, do the searches, and boom. Free stuff!

Is Married with Children on Hulu Plus? Some sites say yes, others no.

I have the dvds but it's convenient just to click a button to watch an episode now and then.

I wish they had a show like Ed that never made it to dvd or even Northern Exposure or Newsradio. I, again, have the dvds of the latter two but would love to just stream episodes.

I'm disappointed with what I saw. Do they at least have a search function when you sign up? On their home page, you can only browse. I can't and won't look through the entire alphabet to find things I might be interested in.

Netflix is a bargain at $15 if they charged it. I might drop $8 a month just to watch Seinfeld and the X-Files in HD if there weren't ads.

Thanks for any help.

No, Hulu redirects you to Crackle.

There is a search button even when you're not signed in. It's in the middle of the home page at the very top.

The ads are relatively unobtrusive. Typically speaking, it's thirty seconds here and there. There is absolutely no reason why something so insignificant should keep one from enjoying the programming available on Hulu.

I am a Hulu subscriber and have been for the past year. I think it's really cheap for the amount of content that they have (and that I want to watch).

I have even been using it far more than Netflix (that will probably change during the Summer), but sometimes the ads do annoy me.

Two 15-sec ads are fine, when it approaches 60sec it starts to get annoying, and (thankfully!) very rarely I get one of those extremely long ad breaks that lasts about 2 minutes. Those feel like a lifetime

It tells you how long the ad break is. I've had up to 90 seconds(typically night after first broadcast)...

I use those to grab a beer...take leak...

Ads are the main reason I prefer Netflix but yeah the price is awesome for the amount of content they have that I like. Definitely going to use it more once I get through Torchwood and the Sarah Jane adventures.

Can you give a very Netflix user some good examples of content that makes Hulu worth any amount of money? Netflix now has 3 seasons of the X-Files in HD, so I'd be shocked if all 9 aren't all available relatively soon. So, from just what I know, Hulu has Seinfeld in HD and that's really the only selling point I can think of.

It would be worth the price even if I could stream the SD content that I own on dvds, but they don't have Newsradio, Northern Exposure or Married with Children (among others). It won't seem like those would be difficult to acquire either.

Netflix has strong overall content and I like their lack of commercials. Hulu is better for watching currently running shows, I don't like their weak movie library but I watch Netflix and Amazon Prime when I want to stream those. Actual content? I'm a bit unusual, I tend to watch stuff from NBC, ABC, the CW and ABC Family. Sometimes MTV or Fox.

Hulu has the Criterion catalog. Plus other good movies that aren't on Netflix. And all movies are commercial-free.

And if you like Anime, they have a huge selection. Including simulcasts currently airing in Japan.

I tried Hulu Plus a while back and I couldn't stand the commercials. Are you saying that movies on Hulu Plus don't have any commercials or is it just the Criterion catalog?
