Kind of shocked DVD revenue went up higher than the Top 50 volume.
Are they shoveling DVD’s out the doors of the stores/ etailers? Le sigh.

There are many more DVD releases than there are BD releases. I think (??) it's like 4X as many on a yearly basis.

It's rare that BD outsells DVD on any given week.

It can only keep up when blockbusters aren’t being held back. It’s going to be streaky until then.

You think Blockbusters are going to prop up Discs, well let's see how that goes!

Obviously, blockbusters have been Blu-ray’s bread and butter since the format was released.

You can see the evidence above.

Blockbusters, by definition, are extremely popular movies and extremely popular movies are exactly the kind of movies that lots of people purchase. Thus, blockbusters "prop up" both discs and EST.

Yes, a few times. Here is one such example that I picked at random; notice also the much higher weekly sales amounts:

While all the arrows are red, look at this weekly total: $193.35 million!

Those were the days...

I suspect we will geta few more just from the fact covid killed new movie releases. The whole release schedule was screwy for everything. That is the good news,

Bad news, imo, is that covid also "sped up" the life cycle advancements in many industries. I think it may have lopped off a couple years of physical media's natural life. Media companies are speeding up their streaming infrastructure. We saw test runs of release to direct households for movies. I wonder how many people got in the habit of not buying physical media last year and signed up for streaming. Many of them are likely not coming back to physical.

Anyways, enjoy the weekly numbers.

I don’t agree it’s your last sentence at all. Those who collect, will collect.
