The trick is to get the audio from the laserdisc and sync it to the old UK bluray

This could get rescued on the 4k format if someone gave it a new scan, no dnr, and no hdr, but the odds of that happening are so low I think that old UK release is probably as good as it's going to get.

Well LD audio is out there so you can use it with UK BD.

It's been announced that on 26th of August 2023 Perfect Blue will be shown in 4K for a first time: https://anime.eiga.com/news/119342/

Idk if it's just upscale or new scan since I can't conform that but I hope it is a new transfer , so there will be a chance to get it on Blu-Ray at some point.

For Paprika it says that they gonna use BD as a source:
Quote:
パプリカ(2006/90分/BD)
But for Redline it's gonna be 35 mm whatever that means cause it was digitally made:

Here's hoping it is a genuine 4K scan and not just the recent "remaster" being passed off as one!

Redline was exhibited on filmouts theatrically, so they're either showing one of those or a scan.

The last blu ray was pretty poor, this needs a new 4k scan. In the meanwhile sticking to the old blu which looked nice enough.

I don't think there has ever been a "perfect" blu ray of "Perfect Blue"

More like Imperfect Blu amirite

Was the Gkids Blu-ray that bad? When I watch it a few years ago, I thought it look great. It was nice to get rid of my old Manga US DVD for once.

They called it 'remaster' but all they did is DNR'd the same old scan and increased contrast a bit. There is still a lot of film shake present on that edition.

I came across for copy of cells for this move and even considering movie crew did some color grading, cells looks so much more crisp, colors are rich compare to any of BDs.

Wish we can get good transfer at some point with better details and colors close to what they should be, old transfer everyone use for BDs just sucks.

If those are legit caps it doesn't look DNR'd to hell, so I'd say they look pretty great in that regard.

They don't look great. They are overexposed. Screen with all of Cham's members looks like it was taken from VHS: https://slow.pics/c/J8mtMVjc

How nice of them to use that particular shot, which is pretty darn close to one I included in my comparison of all the previous releases on this post here! If that really is caps from the scan they're about to show off it could maybe be a new scan to me so hurrah on that front. Good lord the complete black crush though, or should I say gray crush because there's no actual black to be found. The lack of colour balance isn't a nice look but that first image of the poster has the same problem so hopefully that'll just be a flaw of the website rather than the image itself. The shot of Cham though, their hair, there's no outline anywhere to be seen, it's just one big massive gray/black void surrounding their faces.

The pictures are old publicity stills. They're for example used on this Hong Kong VOD service: https://www.letseee.com/en/perfect-blue

Ah well, we'll hopefully hear this weekend after the screenings what the deal is. I thought something was fishy, yeah there's a lot of grain which we hope is going to be there but the color balance being out of whack and the weird framing for the shots made me question if it was actually from the new scan or if something was up with the site. Anyway for laughs here's an actual VHS screencap from the R-Rated VHS of the movie, so much better looking don't you think?

Ty for clarify. Well if they actually made a new transfer, I'm looking forward to blu-ray from new master.
