What's interesting is that 3 of the 4 movies are celebrating an anniversary next year. They really should just do a boxed set:
Karate Kid 35th Karate Kid 3 30th Next Karate Kid 25th |

Wow. Never thought I'd see this released in 4K. Love it.
One of the few films that I pick up on every format. Can't wait for this one. |

I’m surprised so many people like part 2 and haven’t mentioned part 3. While that film has the over top the top villain you can’t NOT like Terry Silver! Cmon! Miyagi kicks ass in that one which alone makes it great. I didn’t care for part 2 that much. The whole rescue the village thing was corny to me. I dunno, just never got on with it. I like 3 much better.
The original is a classic though and is one of my fond 80s memories. I’ll be buying part 1 for sure. |

I really hope this next season gives some info about what happened to Terry Silver after KK3. He was a guy with immense resources and power - he took away Daniel's home with his ill-gotten wealth, nearly destroyed his life with his charisma and manipulative leadership, and hired thugs to attack Daniel at every turn - with a very personal connection to Cobra Kai and John Kreese, so he'd clearly want to get in a Cobra Kai comeback, especially if Kreese is involved in that. His plan was to resurrect the Cobra Kai brand with dojos all over the region, after Mike Barnes - who wasn't anything more than a hired fist - defeated Daniel in the AVKT, but obviously that didn't happen. So, he just walks away from the whole mess after Barnes is defeated?! I can't see that happening. But, we've (apparently) got Mike Barnes back on the mat in season 2 of Cobra Kai, so I'm thinking we'll get some sort of closure on that.

Dr. Strangelove, Stand by Me, Glory, Hellboy, Black Hawk Down, Karate Kid are being released on 4K in the UK. I mean why would Sony re-release a title like Dr. Strangelove after that Criterion Blu-ray. Hopefully these indeed turn out to be glorious 4Ks. |

Part 3 makes no sense coming after Part 2 -- Daniel goes from maturing young man at the end of Pt.2 to whiny boy-wimp at the beginning of Pt.3?
What happened? It's like the filmmakers opted to tear up everything that was good and progressive about Pt.2. Pt.3 not a good movie, but it would have at least played better (continuity-wise) as a Part 2. I did like Thomas Ian Griffith's manipulative bad guy though. |

Bought the two-pack of 1 and 2 in March. Saw these in the theater when they came out and I know I saw 2 with my dad (my parents were divorced so doing stuff with dad in the summer is always memorable).
Kind of kicking myself for getting the two-pack but on the other hand it was $9. Finally got around to watching 1 last month and it was fun from start to finish. 1984 really was the best year for mass-market movies. And so many good movies that weren't sequels. Sony and 4k: You're the best! Around! Nothing's ever gonna keep you down. Last edited by guachi; 12-17-2018 at 03:22 AM. |
