Sounds shit.

How can we preserve film? By making kiddy orientated interactive CGI shit. This is not film, it’s like replacing an art form with a Disney ride.

This could be interesting. I wonder how these are doing for these theaters.

I would not pay $8.00 for a small popcorn at a theater, but I would be tempted to buy a soundtrack CD, poster, or book/magazine devoted to a movie I had just seen if they had a setup selling memorabilia in the foyer. It would seem to make perfect sense.

Even collectible tickets should be a thing. Or being able to save stubs to get a discount on food.

Theaters need more revenue then they are generating from Hollywood movies and concessions. Now more than ever due to having to service their massive debt loads. That's a fact. So if they can come up with an additional exhibition that will bring in premium prices like $20+ per ticket, that will surely help them dig themselves out of the holes they put themselves into.

It's an addition to not a substitution of.

My regular National Amusements theater used to have free paperback books at the ticket counter, and special mini-posters for movies they were showing. It stopped after Covid, but a few weeks ago they brought back the posters with two nice designs for Snake Eyes. Theaters should look into perks like this to entice moviegoers back. I would definitely pay to pick up a movie's soundtrack right there on the spot if they were selling the CDs in the lobby, or a copy of the book/comic a movie is based on.

That is the best time to get that impulse buy.

Until you factor in all the added costs: additional employees, cash up front to buy the merchandise, and theft just to name a few.

Would be cool to here what others ideas are about this. If they have any.

I'd rather get remodels/upgrades from my theatre than movie memorabilia. Half of my theatre's screens are still the old disgusting uncomfortable cloth seats. Some have tiny screens far away.. make them bigger and closer if that's possible.

Little kids getting their hands covered in butter from the popcorn and then touching all the items... ughh not a good idea.

My theatre still occasionally has the 11x17 posters out as well. The only one I currently have on my wall is the OUATIH with Margot Robbie on it.

Also, nobody buys CDs anymore, sadly.

Here's what happens when you have interactive movies made for kids

Watch Tge Cinema Snob ep of the movie. I post it. But due to NSFW language.

Making a screen bigger may also require a new projector due to the requirement for more light on the screen. Cinema Projectors are not cheap and you need the "boxes" that control them. Then you have a higher maintenace contract with the projector seller. More expensive equipement = higher maintenance fees.

A Christie 6P Laser projector with additional equipment runs about $150,000. That's per screen.

My theater used to have them out almost weekly. But haven't had any out in like 4 years or so.

The second trailer had this hilarious scene. I doubt that many people went to it overall.

I'm surprised the DVDs for it didn't end up at Dollar Tree yet
