The series will get a German Blu-ray release from KSM beginning in March 2023 with the first 12 episodes:

The release will be a limited edition SteelBook with some kind of slipcover. The Amazon listing says it will have a booklet and artcards, along with a "manga snippet", trailer and photo gallery.

Audio is currently listed as German: DTS-HD MA 5.1 and Japanese: DTS-HD MA 2.0, with German subtitles included.

Hopefully, this means an English-friendly release is coming soon. KSM are also releasing Nana later this month, so maybe Sentai got Monster here?

Now live on Netflix UK. It also has the original Japanese soundtrack 🙌 Big W for Netflix getting that. Currently the best legal way to watch the show. Happy New Year!

For those who remember when Viz's set was released, it didn't come out until later that Japan changed the soundtrack since another country had released that version prior.

Some context: When they made the International masters, they opted to remix the entire series both in Japanese and the M&E (Music & Effects) track used for dubbing, with vastly different score placement. Some scenes were the same, many were not, and sometimes the application of silence was different as well. The first ending song had the lyrics drop, but that was likely a rights issue (second ending song was intact on "some" versions).

Honestly, I do wonder if any of the licensors, other than the ending tracks, were even aware of this being an issue, because it felt like they weren't. That said, it stood out to fans (myself included) who had watched it during the Japanese run. I do wonder if that's why the sets didn't sell, because that was wide spread among the community and some people blamed Viz Media (when it was a decision made by the Japanese production side, and I even remember reading/seeing comments from one of the staff members mentioning prior to this being dubbed, they were working on an International master).

That said, apparently it has almost every subtitle language option, and as WTK, only Japanese and French dubs. Wonder why the other languages aren't available, given it was dubbed into a number of other languages, including English...?

Apparently it's still not quite the original soundtrack. In episode 15, "Be My Baby" is still using the replacement score and has had the line referencing it in the Japanese audio removed. This is apparently not the only example. The ending credits in the same episode did have their lyrics restored though.

I own and love the Siren Visual DVD box set, but I would still be all over a new English-friendly Blu-ray (or even DVD) release that reinstated the original end credits songs (plus whatever other music changes)!

This is one show I really wish Discotek could get their hands on. I feel like any other company wouldn't do it justice with the soundtrack issues among other things.

I've not seen the show personally, but in this scenario both examples match a Japanese DVDrip. It could be that Netflix have the Japanese DVD master for the show, and that could potentially be the only version still in existence/available for licensing. Either way, I don't know as the musical licensing history of this show was completely unknown to me before Netflix uploaded it. It's been interesting if nothing else.

Call me a hater but I've always tried to avoid PAL releases.

Database says NTSC but unless it's a typo the back of the case for one of the volumes says PAL
