The only complaint I have like others is getting to the amp is difficult because of the weight of the sub, but other than that it's the nicest sub I have ever had!

So how does it sound you ask? Well prior to this I had a PC-12 nsd. I compared a couple scenes from movies I knew well. First off live free or did hard. The tunnel scene with the Lf sweep, the sb handled it with ease. The f-35 scene with the semi truck sounded amazing! Mid bass slam was insane, the walls were flexing. Next up the opening scene from the hurt locker. Again mid and low frequencies all sounded great. All in all the brief time I've spent listening to the sub it sound great. Everything that was there with the PC- -12 was there. With this sub. I haven't tuned it yet and this is the first time I do not corner load a sub so I know I could gain a couple dbs but as of now I'm very happy.
That's great to hear/read RedDevil, having moved 37 time or is it 38 times in my life, I know all to well shit happens and btw I'm done moving.
When you do get around to tuning your sub you may want to take that sexy grill off, see video below(watch the grill). After seeing this, I remove the grill when I watch movies or do any loud music listening.

Again congrats on the successful move RedDevil and looking forward to reading / hearing your thoughts after you get that beast of a little sub dialed in.

Thank you so much! Any advice on tuning? Ed advised to set the avr to -5 and then up the gain on the sub. I will be trying this tonight hopefully. I don't know if ill try any peq or just leave it as.

Thanks Xenomorph,
I won it back in May of 2013 and have been shaking the house daily, I love it so much that I'm ready to get a second one so it's not lonely .

NP RD, What AVR do you have?
I'm a Pio user and Advance MCACC does a nice job blending my Ultra with my Pio speakers. See below, crossing my speakers/sub at 100Hz and I adjusted the sub gain until the my Pio avr set the channel level @ -1.5dB

With that being said, Ed from SVS knows his stuff as do others from SVS along with all the great members here. I'm sure you'll be getting all the help you need to get your toy dialed in real nice.

I have a Yamaha rx -v1800. I never really use ypao for tuning as I've read people have had mixed results. I might try using a little higher crossover like you are. Right now i have it set at 80 but since it's not in the corner at 100 it probably wouldn't be localized to sound too boomy.

The scene where they escape from there exploding house, makes a great demo scene for bass.

You'll be better off ordering another Ultra.
Dual subs will provide you with smoother bass response and address the problem of room modes.

What are peoples thoughts on the opening scenes of G.I Joe Rise of Cobra for LFE?

I popped this on tonight as I realised I haven't seen it since getting my sub. I cranked up the volume to -8.0, just before the convoy scene with the Blackhawks.

When it all kicked off my missus nearly sh*t a brick

watching the DVD Dolby Digital track or the BR TrueHD? I think the DVD's DD track is a little better. Only reason i know that is becaus eI just bought it and forgot Paramount likes to put the BR discs hidden on the left.

LOL yea I know that two subs are better than one. My second choice was two PB12 NSD's but my room is small and I like the smaller footprint of the SB13 Ultra. I also think it will be a little more detailed and transparent compared to a ported sub. I wish I could shell out another $1600 right now but thats not gonna happen for awhile.

I had accidently watched it on DVD, but the whole time I'm thinking, the LFE is awesome, then I realized it was just regular DD.

I have dual PB12-NSD's and looking to replace them with four SB13-Ultra's.
