I work out three-four times a week, one day I will do triceps, chest, and shoulder, the next day I will do biceps, legs, and back, then two days of cardio, whether it is on the elipitical or treadmill for 25 minutes, then play basketball for another hour or so. Diet wise, I tend to eat all my carbs early in the day so I can burn them off throughout the day, try and stick to a high protein diet, no sodas, very little sugar. In order to keep the metabolism up, I make sure to have my breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with the snack in between each one. Im 6'2 and about 185 lbs, just trying to keep myself in pretty good shape. |

Im in the same boat as yourself, Im 6'2 and 185 as well and go to the gym about 4 times a week. When you are doing strength training, it takes almost 48-72 hours for your body to recover, so in that time frame your bodies metabolism is at high and you can burn off almost all that heavy fat and high calorie intake, I can pretty much eat that same stuff and have very little weight gain. |

Whole grain products can be identified by the ingredient list. Typically, if the ingredient lists "whole wheat," "wholemeal," or "whole corn" as the first ingredient, the product is a whole-grain food item. On the other hand, terms such as "enriched" and "bromated," among others, could indicate that the food lacks whole grain.[1] "Wheat flour" (as opposed to "whole-grain wheat flour" or "whole-wheat flour") as the first ingredient is not a clear indicator of the product's whole grain content. If two ingredients are listed as grain products but only the second is listed as whole grain, the entire product may contain between 1% and 49% whole grain.[1] Many breads are colored brown (often with molasses) and made to look like whole grain, but are not. In addition, some food manufacturers make foods with whole-grain ingredients, but, because whole-grain ingredients are not the dominant ingredient, they are not whole-grain products. Contrary to popular belief, fiber is not indicative of whole-grains. The amount of fiber varies from grain to grain, and some products may have things like bran, peas, or other foods added to boost the fiber content. |

I am getting married on June 20th of list year. Over the last couple of years, I have put on about five pounds a year and now I weigh around 195, and I stand six feet tall exactly. I would like to lose about 15-20 pounds between now and the date of my wedding. (We're going to Jamaica for our honeymoon)
I have two questions: A) Is this a feasible goal? B) What is my best course of action to reach this goal? I know very little about diets/weight loss, and any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you so much guys. ![]() |

For breakfast, I usually have two eggs over easy and a piece of toast. For lunch, I usually have a turkey and cheese or peanut and butter sandwich with some chips or pretzels. Dinner for me really varies, but I usually don't eat a real heavy dinner. I don't normally snack that much, and I don't usually exercise. From my perspective, I don't feel like I eat totally bad or excessive amounts, I believe I just need to exercise hardcore for the next three months.

The additional weight gain over the last couple of years sounds like your metabolic rate is slowing down which is completely natural for most people as they age. A combination of more exercise and a slight caloric reduction of 300 calories a day would probably be a decent way to start. The caloric reduction could probably be achieved by cutting out soft drinks and high calorie drinks alone. |

I did a massive change to my diet and shed 22 pounds quite easily. I haven't even started exercising yet. I've found over the last few years that you have to do things one at a time. I could run out, buy a Wii Fit, a treadmill, quit smoking, and change the diet but it would be too overwhelming of a change.
While it's cold, I'm making a long term diet change and then when spring FINALLY gets here, I'm getting a bike and hitting some of the many trails right near me. I like being out in the woods anyways. |
