Saves me from having to import the Arrow version though I may still end up getting that version depends on which one is more affordable since I'm sure they'll both end up using the same scan.

Is there another one? Don't they usually do two at a time? I've been semi-expecting "The Miracle Worker"...

The first 16 of them were done two at a time, but the most recent two (Bound and Invasion of the Body Snatchers) were issued separately -- 2018 08 28 and 2018 10 16, respectively.

I believe thatguamguy was referring to Olive Signature editions specifically, not Olive releases generally.

Placed an order for A Bucket of Blood from Amazon but it says 'Ships in 1 to 2 months'. I'm not in any hurry for this one.

Ah. My bad. I was under the impression that Bucket of Blood was a regular Olive release.

Olive initially released it as a bare-bones DVD only.

One great Signature Edition would be one for Phase IV with both the theatrical and pre-release cuts that also collected Saul Bass' short films (The Searching Eye, From Here to There, Why Man Creates, The Solar Film, Bass on Titles, Notes on the Popular Arts, and Quest).

Yeah, I missed that being Olive Sig as well. I'm just gonna pair them in my head, September to November isn't much of a gap.

Quote:
4K restoration of the film from Paramount
High Definition Blu-rayTM (1080p) presentation
Original lossless mono audio
Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing
Up to His Neck in Nuns, an all-new visual essay by David Cairns
Analysing O Malley, a newly filmed appreciation by chaplain and film academic Revd Dr Steve Nolan
You Can Change The World, a 30-minute promotional film for ""The Christophers"" from 1949 directed by McCarey and featuring appearances from Crosby, Bob Hope, Irene Dunne, William Holden and Jack Benny, presented in high definition
Two Screen Guild Theater radio adaptations starring Crosby and Bergman, plus an additional radio featurette
Re-release theatrical trailer
Image gallery
Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Jennifer Dionisio
FIRST PRESSING ONLY: Fully illustrated booklet containing new writing on the film by Ronald Bergen
Also, I've seen the UK Arrow version go for about $23 USD which is probably cheaper than what the Olive version will be even during sales. I think I'm going to get the Arrow version.

I believe that was a carry over from the original edition.

I've picked up Olive Signature releases for $14 each during DeepDiscount BOGO sales, although their recent BOGO sales have been pretty limited when it comes to titles.

BTW, anyone interested in seeing what "You Can Change the World" short film is like can check it out on YouTube.

I think I'm good with the current release of The Bells of St, Mary's. I don't love it enough to double-dip.

The subtitles alone make the Olive Signature releases an easy choice for double dips.

I'd expect Olive to simply license Arrow's extras like they did for Bound, plus maybe a new commentary.

The technical specs and extras for the Signature Edition of The Bells of St. Mary's:

Quote:
  • BRAND NEW 4K RESTORATION OF THE FILM
  • Audio commentary by Bing Crosby biographer Gary Giddins
  • "Faith and Film" Sr. Rose Pacatte on The Bells of St. Mary's
  • "Human Nature" Steve Massa on The Bells of St. Mary's and Leo McCarey
  • "Before Sequel-itis" Prof. Emily Carman on the film in the context of Hollywood production history
  • Screen Guild Theater radio adaptations
  • Essay by cultural critic Abbey Bender
  • Optional English SDH subtitles for the main feature
Here's the Arrow version for comparision:

Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Jennifer Dionisio
FIRST PRESSING ONLY: Fully illustrated booklet containing new writing on the film by Ronald Bergen
Given that the Deep Discount BOGO sales have tended not to as great anymore and nor have many Signature Editions been available in the sales I will be getting the Arrow version here most likely as it will prove more affordable for me. At the moment, Going My Way, is more of a priority for me but I will probably try to get this one too, as it's a nice film on its own, during the Holidays or right after if possible.
