Yeah, I almost bought the standard edition but went ahead and grabbed the variant because it is a much cooler cover.

Only have 1 Book for my update for last week. Whoever packaged my shipment screwed up as I was supposed to get 8. They are sending out replacements though.

My haul for the past couple of weeks:

My local comic shop had a midnight sale on 8/31 where if you bought Flashpoint #5 and Justice League #1, all DC books were $1, so I picked up a few back issues.

[Show spoiler]

Then I kind of went nuts over the past week picking up the new DC #1s. Probably won't pick up issue #2 on all of these titles, but a couple I will.

[Show spoiler]>

[Show spoiler]

My comic book buying has been getting out of hand lately, and this DC relaunch isn't helping. I'll cut back next month

Looking forward to Green Lantern #1 tomorrow, along with a few other DC #1s and the G.I. Joe titles I normally buy.

Nice I'll probably have pics of my last 3 weeks worth tomorrow. I like to finish reading them all first.

Great pictures, I have not bought weekly comics in many years. I follow through trades and hardcovers now. Several thousand back issues are still in storage. If anyone wants it, I have a digital code for the first issue of Batgirl that I do not need. Just PM me if you want it.

I've been slacking here mainly because I was forced to cut my comic purchases in half but here is all I have accumulated since my last post:

I just wrote up a review on my blog of the comic TPB that just came out called "The Oz/Wonderland Chronicles".

Excellent series of comics, although not a lengthy series.

Check out the snippet below and a link to read the whole thing.

Would love thoughts from people on the review and also if any of you have read the series.

Quote:
I think that this is pretty stellar stuff all around. The storyline is excellent, with many twists and turns and genuine surprises throughout, where even when you find out the ultimate revelation in the story, it's still such a surprise as, at least in my case, I hadn't even seen that coming.

Another interesting aspect to this is the subtle little nods to other classic works, particularly with Alice & Dorothy's other female roommates in Chicago. While they didn't really go further than a quick little aside or reference, it appears at least two of her roommates are Wendy from Never Neverland, and Lucy from Narnia.

This story is so chock full with "easter eggs", if you will, for the literary nerds out there, and still is able to appeal to not only those who are very familiar with the original source material, but also those who perhaps only know these works from the Judy Garland version of Oz, and the animated Alice in Wonderland.

I do think, however, that it really works best for those who come in with prior knowledge of the secondary characters from Baum's other Oz books, as I imagine it may seem strange to read a book about a world you think you know, and suddenly there's all these other characters such as the Nome King and Tik Tok from the Royal Army of Oz that you don't recognize.

Nice pics, madlost. I'm way behind on posting mine as well. I ended up not getting as many of the DC #1s as I originally planned, because I realized that it would have been a ridiculous amount of money. Still, I probably bought more than I should have. There's only a couple I'll be sticking with past #2.

I'm going to try to get pics of my haul from the last 6 weeks posted soon.

Here is what I picked up last week. I just recently got back in the game with comics with the NEW 52. I am currently buying 17 of the new 52, got em on a pull and hold at a local shop, plus I pick up a couple add ons here and there. That's a variant X-Men.

I don't really collect a lot of comics, mostly mangas, but I've gotten a ton of free comics and posters the other day:

There's some nice hauls in here. Unfortunately, I mostly just buy digital comic books now on my iPhone via comiXology. I used to buy hundreds upon hundreds of "floppies", but digital is just more convenient and more affordable. I still do hold a few books each month at my LCBS, though, so when I pick them up, I'll be sure to post some photos!

Here is what I picked up in the last few weeks. I have a pull and hold subscription with my local shop. Plus I pick up a couple extras here and there.
