I'm working on Universal next. It'll take about 6 weeks to 2 months per studio. After that I'll be doing Paramount because Universal owns their 1929-1950 sound pictures and I'm planning to group the movies into threads of 'who owns what' (as best as I can), rather than strictly by major studio. I'm not going to worry too much about the 'exceptions', unless I happen to identify them along the way (the DVD info helps me there because I can see who released it).

Next I'll finish Paramount and the Repubic library it owns. Haven't decided on what to do after that but I'm most curious about the Warner library and its RKO/MGM movies.

I believe Titanic (1997) was released by Fox overseas (and Paramount in the US). Regardless, the blu-ray was released by Paramount.

Also, Volcano (1997) was released by Anchor Bay, and not Fox, on blu.

You're right, it was released theatrically by Paramount in the U.S., so I'll put it with the Paramount movies when I get it done. Thanks for the catch.

I mentioned it before, but you might've missed it. The Volcano (1997) blu-ray was released by Anchor Bay, and not Fox.

Another one: Weekend at Bernie's (though it was distributed by Fox theatrically), is now with MGM, because of their purchase of Gladden Entertainment. So it's technically an MGM release (you'll notice the MGM logo on the spine).

Corrected Volcano to an Anchor Bay release (I missed your note below the Titanic pic), thanks.

Thanks for the info on Weekend at Bernie's. I'll make a note in my database as to who owns it, but I plan on keeping the lists based on who originally released them theatrically, as it's simpler since one doesn't have to worry about movies changing hands. I notice that MGM did release the DVD, and is one reason why I'm keeping track of DVD releases, so I can get an idea of who has distribution rights and who we can expect to release the Blu-ray.

Hi bruceames,

If you're keeping track of DVDs, have you checked out this guy's site:

http://dvdlist.kazart.com/download.php

At the very least, it is possible to see which titles the studios were keen to put out onto DVD the first time the format rolled around. The file is massive though so I can't go through it as I would like but it has a treasure trove of information to deduce out titles that were popular.

Yeah I just noticed a couple of days ago that I have an Excel file of this from about two years ago. There's a ton of redundancy and non-movies in there, but it'll be useful as a check and especially for new releases going forward. Thanks for the link.

I use DVD profiler and Amazon mainly to get the DVD info, which is distributor and release date. I use the first release date unless it's from a 3rd party distributor and a major distributor releases it afterwards. My plan to keep track of DVDs was mainly to use Amazon and every few months do a search for releases going back 90 days, for each decade. I am noting down any DVD import info I can, on those releases which haven't got a DVD release in the US yet. But after the lists are complete, there's really no practical way to keep them updated.

Of course, I do plan to keep the Blu-ray imports updated.

Add list (above post) of Fox movies released on DVD via other labels.

Also added Table of Contents in the OP to make it easier to find stuff and other lists that may not fit in the first 10 posts.

Just FYI, The Good Son was not released by Disney on DVD, that's a typo in the Amazon listings. I have the DVD, it's from Fox.

Changed to Fox. Thanks for the catch, I should have cross checked that one with DVD Profiler since it did seem odd that Disney was releasing a Fox movie.

After being really busy the last year, it seems new Fox catalog announcements have dried up.

Still quiet. I guess they're waiting for the market to catch up with the flurry of movies they released last year.

Not sure I follow. Are these films you hope will be released on BD, or have you heard something about actual releases? I think The Good Son is highly underrated, it's written by novelist Ian McEwan, who wrote Atonement.

I think those are wish list titles.

I like the lists of released and unreleased titles but I wish they were sorted alphabetically by title since they would be more usable and meaningful.

Update: Actually, I just noticed you have them sorted by release year so that is good.
