As far as I am concerned, if it's 2015 and the deleted scenes from Blue Velvet and Fire Walk With Me are on Blu-ray, anything is possible. So I am still hopeful for all the TBC deleted scenes seeing the light of day, like what happened with the "fair folk" scene. Preferably restored and reincorporated into the movie, but I guess relegating them to deleted scene status would be a "saving face" measure for Disney thirty years later.

TBH, I don't see Disney putting out both cuts on Blu-ray. BUT I think I do see them adding the deleted scenes as extras.

Hoping for an August release!! I believe it was about May when we heard about the releases of Ichabod and Mr. Toad and a few others that were released in Aug 2015...so hopefully we hear some news soon.

This is why speculation threads such as these should be moved to the "wish list" forum until an official announcement is made.

Sorry, guys. I just looked up this thread because of a conversation I was having elsewhere and absentmindedly decided to correct that guys comment. Didn't think about what resurrecting it would do. At least we can all be happy that we're all anticipating a release. Solidarity!

I've changed gears! I know don't care about the release, and only look forward to thread bumps!
If you think this thread is torture, just go look at the recent post in The Abyss/True Lies thread!

This is the same Disney that wouldn't even put the discarded songs of MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL and POCAHONTAS back on Blu-Ray, even though they had been reincorporated into one DVD release or another. The chances of them doing so on a catalog title like BLACK CAULDRON are slim to none.

agreed. we will be lucky if we get the existing extras in HD, it will more than likely be a direct port of the 25th Anniversary DVD's features.

wasn't this announced for release in the UK last year some time? whatever happened to that? i find it really strange that it was re-released on DVD there with special edition slipcovers, but not on BD.

also, BD had definitely hit it's stride when the last edition of The Black Cauldron was released in the US, but it too was a DVD only release... Doesn't make sense that they would continue re-releasing it as DVD only, but that's what they keep doing.

I only just watched The Black Cauldron for the first time a few years ago, and I thought it was just okay. I actually don't even really remember much of what happened in it. But after I'd read about how it was completely chopped up and edited down, I'm really curious about the uncut version and hope it gets released.

Honestly, I don't understand why Disney would even pass up on the opportunity to release the uncut version on blu-ray. Doing so might actually give them the chance to redeem the film. Aren't a lot of the reasons why it's considered a "bad movie" due to the re-edits? At the very least, they could include all the deleted scenes as special features.

I hear rumors of a september release, i also hope they used the deleted scenes and original footage as extras.

I saw this 2 times in theaters when i was 4 and the first non-Disney re-issue movie i ever saw, sure it scared me first but i dug it. I had a stuffed Gurgi, readalong with cassette and the computer game. A shame it took 14 years to get to video and got it on video first day and enjoyed it, one of my favorite fantasy flicks as it's a fun PG rated fantasy flick.

Does this movie remind anyone of films like The Dark Crystal, Willow, Conan, The Secret of NIMH, The Last Unicorn, The Flight of Dragons and even adult animated fantasy flicks like Heavy Metal, Wizards, Fire and Ice and Princess Mononoke?

You can add this to the long list of rumours circulating over the last few weeks around the release of this film and the other remaining Disney canon titles.

I'm not believing anything until it's official and announced by disney themselves.

And if your source is the Disney Wiki...

I would assume, like several other Disney animated titles, this would be released in other regions before the US. Sure hope I'm wrong about that, but I'm looking at Zavvi announcing a steelbook before anyone else.

L.A. fans I envy you - apparently the El Capitan theater is showing it this week Oct. 15-18, as far as I can tell I think it's DCP - if anyone goes? can you post back how this looked and sounded.

I hate to bump an old thread, but I hate creating new ones.

I'm thinking of blind buying this (never seen it). But is it on any streaming service anywhere?
